Hope to meet you out there, Arin!
Scott it'll be cool to meet you and see that Z. I'll give you my A6's for the incredible price of $0.

Tires:

Street class: 200+
Mod class: 140-200
Unlimited: 80-100 (must be DOT)

Also I think we should give G35 owner's gutted interior a free mod since G's are alot heavier than Z's.

I would contest that star specs are just as fast or faster than RS3, etc on our cars. They excel on heavier platforms. Since there is no industry standard for tread wear rating.....it doesn't really make sense to have a cut-off lower than 140 for street tires. Though, obviously, I am on the wrong coast....I say 140+ street, 100-140 mod, and unlimited 40+ (DOT approved). I'd suggest just using a min weight for each division as well instead of trying to regulate points or such for designated weight drops.

As a secondary suggestion. How about an index instead of classes. It would make cross division a competition as well. We have a club here that uses one and it is surprisingly effective.

Here is the breakdown:

Index System

The indexed time is a measure of how well you did relative to the other drivers. It is similar to a golfer's handicap. The indexed time will be your elapsed time multiplied by the following factors:

Tire Multiplier1
Street Tires = 1.00
R-Compound Tires With Treadwear Rating 100 - 139 = 1.02
R-Compound Tires With Treadwear Rating < 100 = 1.035

Horsepower Multiplier2
100 HP or less = 0.99
101 to 150 HP = 1.00
151 to 200 HP = 1.01
201 to 250 HP = 1.02
251 to 350 HP = 1.03
Over 350 hp = 1.04

Vehicle Weight Multiplier3
Vehicle weight < 2,000 lbs = 1.02
Vehicle weight 2,000 to 2,500 lbs = 1.01
Vehicle weight 2,501 to 3,000 lbs = 1.00
Vehicle weight 3,001 to 3,500 lbs = 0.99
Vehicle weight > 3,500 lbs = 0.98

1DOT approved street tires will have a treadwear rating of 140 or greater
2As measured at the driven wheels
3Curb weight without driver or passenger(s) onboard
I would just narrow those broad ranges down to a more vehicle specific (350z) breakdown for power and weight.

Just a suggestion.

I have intake and exhaust. Beside that my car is stock except for a set of sway bars. What class would I be put in due to the sway bars? I might be interested in coming out and racing. Thanks.

If you have never been in a High Performance Driving situation on a track I would suggest going and getting instruction at an open track day, local Auto Cross, or even a High Performance Driving school before entering any kind of competition. Whether it's a race against the clock or wheel to wheel, you may just end up being a hazard to other drivers trying to set a fast lap.
Seat time is a great way to get familiarized with high performance driving, getting seat time with an experienced instructor will make you an even better driver. Otherwise, you will be picking up bad habits and will find yourself plateauing in terms of driving skill and not improve.

As the say goes, "You gotta crawl before you walk"

I think you're onto something here.

How about this:

Street class 140+

Modified Class 100+ DOT-R

Unlimited Class 40+ DOT-R

If I'm not mistaken this is pretty much the way Redline TA has their tires indexed.

sounds great
I just wanted a fair rule for those who will be coming with regular high summer daily tires. Lot of Z & G owner don't have a second track wheels/tires. Also I wanted to start off with fair class setup since this is our first Z/G challenge. But that was just my thoughts tho...

ill double check for you on that but of course safety first

my advice would be to take beginner instructing course because they go instruct u throughout your first time, like what viorent grip said if u can get some auto x experience in prior that would be awesome and if and when u feel comfortable try to bump up in a level that day but i would definitely find out for you so give me a bit

lets go meet somewhere in the middle both mike and david for me as long as i dont have R compounds in the modified or street class im cool. I guess its really hard to nit pick every single tire brand/ treadware and capability but i think we have the general idea going on here...

thanks for your feedback

Nah it's not too hard to figure out what tire will be legal where.

Just set the treadwear and class guidelines and the racers will figure out what tire they can use.
