Decided to go up to GMR yesterday for just a little fun in the twisties with two other friends. There was two bike cops on the way up but these cops were cool. They actually talked about cars and the other bikers up there at the look out point.

it was definitely a shocker for me.

Do you have it on your windshield or hidden? Can cops give you ticket if they see it on your car?

In Cali, you can't have anything hanging from your rear view mirror or have anything attached to your windshield so for that, you can be pulled over.
I don't believe it's illegal to have one of those systems, but if you get pulled over and the cop sees it, you're getting a ticket.

Once in a while, I do hear those stories too. I just never experience them first hand. I'd be shocked too!

I still think cops will always deny there is a quota. The state needs money, right?

Saw more CHP on the freeways today. Set up perpendicular to the lanes for easy radar shots!

He said I was going 55 in a 35. I didn't think about it at the time (was trying to figure out how late I would be for work), but how could he know how fast I was going if he was in the middle of writing a ticket? He didn't have his radar gun out. He also walked to the front of the car after asking for my license and asked me about my lack of a front license plate. Needless to say, he put that on the ticket too.

Either way, be careful out there! I saw 6 CHP vehicles on the way to work and 4 of them had pulled someone over (including me).

Yes..... this is known as an M.E.P. week. Maximum Enforcement Period... They do them every Holiday week, I used to be married to a Chippy.

Yeah, it definitely was different seeing that first hand...

My friend in a Hyundai genesis was lowered and had plenty of aftermarket parts but still didn't get ticketed...!!! Cop even asked if it was lowered, he responded yes and just continued talking. :O

ACH is definitely not a good place to go at the moment. Heard there was 3-4 deaths in the first two weeks? I'm sure cops aren't going to be as lenient there as GMR was!

Not sure it's been mentioned, but your speed can be visually estimated. CHP are certified for that within something like 5mph I believe.

Honestly, I've never been to GMR or ACH. Been wanting to check it out just to cruise it. I guess I'll go when I hear that it isn't as hot there.

I also heard that there are specific days that they will keep an eye open/give out more tickets on specific things. Like today will be no front plate day, tomorrow will be tinted front window day, day after will be talking on cell phone day... etc.

Funniest thing, couple weeks ago I was in my buddies car going down Rosemead blvd. in El Monte, from a distance I see someone walk into the middle of the street and stands there. As we get closer I notice it was a cop, I tell my buddy to slow down. The speeding mustang to the left of us gets pointed down by the cop holding a radar gun standing in the middle of the street. Good thing it wasn't us that got pulled over but we started laughing our azz off cause who really gets pulled over by a cop standing in between the lanes in the middle of a street. Btw the officers vehicle was parked to the right was low key, no lights on top and not two tone, can't recall if it was marked or unmarked but the cop was in uniform. Be careful out there fellas!

There might not be actual quotas, but if they're not bringing in revenue, they're not really doing their job and I'm sure they'll hear about it.

There's definitely such thing as a quota. I saw the same story mentioned earlier about the cops suing their department over quota enforcement. It may just be that your cousin works for a department that doesn't do that or isn't as pushy about it. Regardless, their are definitely departments out there that do it. It's probably not official/on the books but the result is the same.

Time to bump this thread up...

My wife (with me in the car) recently got pulled over on the 210 fwy for not making a complete stop at an intersection, before making a right hand turn onto the on ramp to the 210 fwy. It is a no points violation on her license but there is a fine. So I will be helping her write a Trial by Declaration letter.

I have never been pulled over for that violation and we were on the fwy for a few miles before we were pulled over. I said to myself wtf are we getting pulled over for in our fast impala lol...

Is there a set amount of time that they have to pull you over or something? I mean, obviously the guy can't pull you over for something you did the day before, but is there something like 15 minutes or what? There has to be some kind of set time, right?

Their sole task is to protect their citizens, not to bring in revenue. Government should be the one to supply $$ to these agencies. But then again, it seems like in today's society, it's the opposite.

i believe from anywhere till your court appearance or something. Basically, if you got a ticket and it's before your court date, just show the po-po the ticket and you should restrained from getting another identical ticket
