I had been using Pann Auto/cartune but they seem overwhelmed at times. Daniel at Cartune is of good help. I will be trying out Japanese auto care in RB. Will let you know!

Moved to local section. You can also check out Speed force racing in Santee. Talk to Tim the owner, good guy.

Pann Auto is trash. Speed Force is a good bet along with Group 5 Motorsports.

so I'm getting a v3 vortech tuner kit installed ... speed force is going to want 800 for the install plus 300 for the tune, they're recommending an ss box ... they told me they can do uprev instead but without base maps it takes more time and a few hundred dollars more... so yeah, thoughts? 1100-1200 for install and tune on an ss box, 1500-1700 for install and tune with uprev?

yeah, I actually asked Pann auto about installed price for a vortech this weekend, they said 1k to $1,200 depending on difficulty. I had looked around this forum and most guys have had them installed for $800-$1,200 so your price seems good. Are you getting the Vortech because its carb legal?

I already have the vortech, and yes ... sort of. I also like the power band on supercharged and NA cars a lot more than turbos (and I've had a lot of turbos) ... I refuse to spend 25k building a n/a motor (which is what it cost, do not let anyone tell you different), so I'm just going to go good old vortech. I got the v3 so it would be self contained, and opted for the tuner kit because it has the carb stamping but lets me run whatever fmu and injectors and leaves more room for down the road expansion if I ever want it.

Go with the SS box for the Vortech IMO. If you decide down the road you need the Uprev speed force, GTM or churches can do it for you. Tim can give you a few different maps for higher octane to use with the SS box also.

So just go SS for now, and then when I do the next round of mods (full pen, headers, downpipe) go uprev, or somthing like that?

I never knew that! I thought only the complete kits had the carb number.....

in that case, I might start looking around for a tuner kit
