Default Got hit friday night :[

Sup fellas,

So my car got hit friday night. It was parked next to the curb when I woke up to a note and a big dent on the door/rear side panel. He left his name and contact info, but when I tried calling him yesterday and just now, it goes to voicemail. In the event that he keeps avoiding me, what should I do next? I haven't called my insurance yet, as I am not sure if he wants to settle this outside. Thanks

At least the guy left his number, just contact your insurance and file a claim. I wouldn't wait too long.

Most likley gave your a faux number because somebody watched him hit you and wanted to make sure he left his info.

-1 on tracking the guy down. Whoever hit you probably left the contact info of someone they dislike.

I have a question. If I file a claim with my insurance, will the premium go up more than if I had made an agreement with the guy who hit my car and his insurance takes care of my car?

Call the police and your insurance, just so your @ss is covered. This wasn't a moving violation and no fault of yours, so your rates shouldn't be increased. That's several $K worth of damage, so I'd guess the chances of this person (if even real) paying the full cost would be very small, at best. But, if he's real, your insurance company will go after him, so his insurance will end up footing the bill. Don't wait any longer.

I'd call the police if the number is no good or they don't call back within 24 hours.

I would have immediately called my agent.

My company (Allstate) treats hit & run incidents as a no fault accident. They look for the other person and I get my deductible back if they recoup the money when this happened to my daughter (still no refund).

Sorry this happened, good luck.

So I found out who hit my car, or actually why he wasn't answering my calls. I went around the neighborhood asking if they knew who had hit my car, and it was my neighbor's friend who left to the east coast, which was why he wasn't answering his home phone. Ive already filed a claim with my insurance and was planning on getting a quote, paying the deductible, and having my insurance spot the bill. Can i still have his insurance pay at this point??

Don't worry about it. Your insurance company will do whatever they can to recover their money from the other guy.
