Default The "Official" SoCal 350Z Club Website

I was asked yesterday by Ron "Mr. Twisted" if my site, 350ZFreak.com could be the "Official" site of the SoCal 350Z Club.

Of course I accepted.

Keep in mind that this is not going to happen overnight, at least I don't think so . It will take some time and effort to bring the entire site together, but once it's complete, I feel that it will be something that we all can stand back and be proud of. In the meantime, I need some feedback on the basic site layout (graphics, formatting, etc.)

I worked on some graphics for the site last night and created a "rough draft" of the basic layout (which is currently live), but the main content of the site is what needs to be added. Here is the list so far of the content we are planning on including:

- Member bios
- Featured member's cars
- Helpful hints and installation tips
- Event calendar

I will be working with Mr. Twisted on specifics of the site such as banner ads, links and such, but all your help and input will be very much appreciated. PM me your suggestions and/or links to website examples or send an e-mail to: chrismcagle@yahoo.com

Let's make 350ZFreak.com the best 350Z club site out there!

Great idea to have an official website for the So Cal 350Z club. I was thinking that a site domain name with our club name would be a nice idea... and we never really officially named our club I think.

350Z FOC (Freaks of California)?!?! Haha.

Hmm... I dont' know.

Default Name

Yeah. I think that the unofficial "official" name for the club is the "SoCal 350Z Club". Nice and to the point. hehehehe!

P.S. I'll see you at "The Border" in about 15 minutes.

Hey Chris,
The site looks great...I know pretty much NOTHING about computers ( I don't even have one at home anymore!) so I really dont have any input...But Im sure the site will be fantastic seeing as how a fellow Z member is designing it

I think We Do Need a Site

IMO I think something with SoCal in the title would be
more specific to the Club.
After all it's the SoCal Z club.

I like 350Zfreak but not really for a club name

But I'll support whatever we use.

it's just a URL

I was thinking maybe the members could submit names for the
Club/site and then the members could Vote on the one they like
best, This way everyone is involved

If were stuck on 350zFreak thats fine but it doesnt really say much about the SoCal club directly.

just an Idea.

I thougth the same. If we can get a new domain name easily, we should do so.

I think www.socal350z.com is taken...

but www.socali350z.com is free. Also available are www.scal350z.com and www.soca350z.com.

I motion to adopt an OFFICIAL name with members involved. Also, I motion to have a LOGO design contest to come up with something all of us can attach in our signatures. This LOGO can be used on the site as well.

First, shouldn't we decide on a name?

It seems like we've just settled on So Cal 350Z Club for now, but I don't believe it's set in stone.

I like El Diablo's idea of So Cal Z Rider, but I would add a Z at the end to say So Cal RiderZ or something. Gives it a bit of an edge to the regular 350z club. I think there is already a So Cal Z club anyway.

What do you guys think?

Well... 350ZFreak is the name that's already registered, so it's the name we have to work with. It'll be fine.

I agree. All the members need to be involved in this,

it cost 15 bucks to register a domain name. no biggie

Just curious, but how will the club website tie in with the my350z.com boards. The board and the so cal forum seem to be a good way for all of us to communicate stuff. Just wanted to avoid potential duplication.

No dupes. When I had lunch with Chris, we chatted about it a bit. Mr. Twisted wanted a age for member's info's. Like a lil bio and a featured so cal car...

also, an events tab will be available.

Default The difference

The Website will be more of an "informational" site whereas the My350Z.com forum is a place to actually discuss things. The Website will not have any tye of chatroom or "realtime" discussions, only info.

The plan is that it will have information on each member (Name, type of car) and pictures. Once a month (that is still being discussed) there will be a "Featured Car" which will be on the main page and have a short bio on the owner/member.

So they will actually be very different.

I concur and second your motion. As for the club name, I agree with everyone: we should have everyone participate in this process.

BTW, do we really need to put "So Cal" as part of the club name? Can we just do w/o it??? How about just.... "Z RiderZ" That way, if the club expands outside of So Cal, then we can have various chapters under the same club name, like "Z RiderZ-So Cal Chapter", "Z RiderZ-Nor Cal Chapter"... etc. Just give the name more potential rather than limit it. just my $0.02.

I agree that a new name is in order, regardless of the name of Chris's web site. Looks like there will be a lot of Z's in the name.....surprised no one said ZoCal yet....lol

At the very first meeting at Performance Nissan, I think Ron asked everyone to bring in some suggestions for the name of the club....do we have any of those?

There are some examples of other Z club names and web sites here: http://www.geocities.com/~z-car/zclubs.html

Here is a page from the Carolina Z car club that lists Z clubs all over the world: http://www.carolinazclub.com/clubs.htm

We can take a look at existing names for either ideas or to make sure the one we want isn't taken already.
