Default 350Z Challenge at Big Willow June 4

I am gauging interest in a 350Z Challenge Series, running the various racetracks in California. I have a tentative date of Friday, June 4 for the big road course at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, CA (this is NOT Streets of Willow). It is known as "the fastest road in the west."

There will be professional instructors and timing equipment available, and included in the price. The cost will be less than $150 for the entire day (more details later). Beginners are welcome, as are more experienced drivers.

If you are seriously interested, please PM me here. I need to get 20 drivers to make this work.

If you have never driven your car on a racetrack before, trust me, it is the most fun you will ever have with your clothes on. LMAO

I'm actually taking a course there at the end of the month. Depending on how that goes, I would most likely be intersted.

Well, it's a road course, not an Auto-X event, so the purpose is not drifting. I suppose you, individually could drift in some of the turns if you have that skill.

I'm now sure I am answering your question, but that's the best I can do for now. There will not be instruction in drifting, although there I believe there is a skidpad at Willow Springs (not really sure), and maybe they will allow you to use it.

Default NOT SURE

I meant that I am NOT SURE I answered the question about drifting. I did not mean "now sure". They have a crazy rule here that you only have 10 minutes to edit your posts before they become locked, so I couldn't just edit the error.

OK, count me in.

Since I've never driven at a track, to prepare for this event, I just signed up for training at ButtonWillow on Sunday May 9th.

Default Cool, Jeff D.

I think you already gave me your e-mail address, and you are on the list to receive e-mail updates about the June 4 Big Willow track event.

Last December, I ran the Buttonwillow Performance Driving Clinic that you are going to next month. It is excellent for first timers, or those (like me at the time) with just a few trips to the track. It's more expensive than our Big Willow event, but worth it. Buttonwillow is a fun track with, If I remember correctly, 5 short straights and a lot of tight turns. The first time you go over the top of that hill, you get a real thrill (you will see what I mean).

Looking forward to seeing you June 4. Initially I was worried I wouldn't be able to drum up enough interest, but response has been pretty strong, and I have talked again to the organization that arranges for car clubs to drive at the track. We are expecting a group of Lancer EVO 8's. Those things are pretty fast (but ugly LOL).

Count me in. Would it just be for Z's (is it really a Z challenge series)? A couple of expert driver friends with a DC2 Integra and E36 M3 may be interested. Please let me know.

Default It's our first event

So it won't be all 350Zs. This time out, your friends in other cars are welcome. We need to get a group of serious 350Z track drivers together to get a true 350Z Challenge series rolling. There are Challenge Series run by this organizer for Corvettes, Boxsters, S2000s, RX-7s, EVO 8s and Miatas. I want to make the next group 350Zs. I would envision 4 - 6 events a year at different tracks in Calif.

PM me your e-mail address and I will put you on the list for e-mail updates on the June 4 event at Big Willow.

For pinning this thread. I think this Challenge series could be really a lot of fun. If we can just get a good turnout on June 4 at Big Willow, we will be on our way. Anyone who wants to be on the e-mail list for updates about this event and the California 350Z Challenge Series in general, please PM me with your e-mail address.

Great! I'll be one of the instructors there that day. See you then.

As for a 350Z Challenge series, sounds like a fun idea. Do you envision actual competition, or simply high performance driving?

Default Just an FYI:

GroupZ is hosting the 17th. Annual ZCCA National Convention June 14-19 2004. Thursday June 14th is our track day at Willow Springs, (Both Tracks).
You can register seperately for the tracks without registering for the convention. Cost is $105 for the day.

This may be easier than trying to get folks together for the 4th. and the date is fairly close to your date listed.
If you need more info. give me a shout.
