Talking June 13: Idyllwild Run

June 13: Idyllwild Run

This is a very fun run with many mid to high-speed thrilling turns. I along with a few other Z owners did a test run last weekend and it was a blast! But we got there at about 7am. So the time may be an issue for some of you.

As for the date, it gets pretty hot…. So I think we should not wait till July or August to do this. So how about June 13?

Who’s in?

Palm Springs. That's why the time might become an issue. Us South Bay crew will have to leave around 5:30am. We left at 5:15 last time and it was perfect! No traffic!!!

I'm from the G club we made this run twice already it is indeed fun. Better than the Julian run that we did a few months back. Just have to be careful cus the last run we had one of the guys got tagged by the CHP. Whoever has the V1 or something similar should be the lead. Bring a one of those walkie talkies it's a big help if someone gets lost or lagging behind. This is still far off I hope you don't mind me tagging along. And one more thing can I post this on G35driver forum I'm sure some of the gang will be interested in going.

I am also a sponsor of the Z car convention that same week..... hummmm an all expense paid trip to Hawaii or Z car stuff for a week...... not as easy a choice as it sounds! Be safe!

Ok fellow 350Z owners. I live in Hemet and if everyone wishes, we can meet at my place in the morning. If not let me know where we will meet before going up the San Jacinto Mtn to Idylwild.

Cool, looked it up on Mapquest, only 70 miles from my house. I like the real early drives...so much less traffic. I've done Palomar/Julian a few times at 6:30am...sweet. It's been 20 years since I've been to Idyllwild. I added h2oskier177 per his previous post.

We usually meet at the gas station just past the Pala casino entrance. From there the run is about 1hr depending on how fast you want to go.

If you leave from Pala, then we meet in Temecula ???? Has anyone ever ran Idylwild from the San Jacinto/Hemet side ??? Recommendation, meet at my house in Hemet for coffee and donuts, tell a couple war stories, then take off for the hills.

Default Meeting Hemet

Dave,

Thanks for the offer. I think your place in Hemet may be the best meeting place for everyone, since the S.D. guys are coming. We normaly start the run from the Banning side, but if we leave Hemet at 7 AM the road up the mountain should be OK. With some luck we might get to drive it back to Hemet without much traffic. Last time the road got really slow by 10 AM.

Manny.
