what is the best % tint?
#2
I would go with the lowest legal tint, thinking 20% would look good. I have 5% on mine and you can't see in my car at all, its not legal but I've never been stopped. Still its not worth the worries going with illegal tint imo. Try 20 or 30 % either would look nice and just get 3M so you don't have to worry about it fading and stuff.

Does anyone know what % is legal? I got pulled over a couple weeks ago and got a fix it ticket, but I don't know how to fix it.
The dealer put my tint on, so I'm not even sure % it is. My guess is 30%

I recommend what I have... see my sig. I put darker tint on the rear hatch so that no one can peek into my trunk. The front two, I did lighter so that I won't get harrassed by the cops. I also wanted to do the windshield but I decided not to do the whole windshield but partial... it helps greatly, especially b/c I don't wear shades while driving.
Jeff is rite, The two front side windows can be tinted up to 30% (or 70% sunlight coming thru). But most of the cars come with windows tinted to 30%. Applying another layer, even if 30% film will make it illegal.
Frenzee: That sucks you got a ticket for it. I got a ticket one time in my previous car. Go to California Tint or any tint shop to peel it off. California Tint uses heat gun to take it off so that there is no residue after taking it off. Don't just try to ply it off though... the glue residue will be a PAIN to get off.

I've got 20% all around, but I believe that the percentage is dependant on the brand of tint as well. I've seen some windows that were supposedly 20% that looked more like 5% to me.
As the others have stated, the front 2 windows cannot be legally tinted at all, but everybody does it anyway. It looks MUCH better tinted, than not.

The Georgia law that limited tint to 32-35% was just thrown out. Turns out that the law had a flaw. The flaw had something to do with different limits for out-of-state (plated) cars. (or something like that) Perhaps some of you might challenge your state's law.
Now, any tint % is legal in Georgia!
I have 32% sides and back. It is a metalic coated tint, and it has a slight mirror look.
Since the stock windows have a slight green tint, I am not happy with the slight "mirror like" tint. You can see the green hue.
I am changing the side windows to 20 or 15% black colored tint.
I like the tint I have on the rear window though, because I can still see out of it fairly well. The very slight mirror finish looks good here, and there is no noticable green hue on this window.
I am told that non-metalic tint does not last as long, and does not reflect heat as much.....but because my car is black, I've decided that I want black or darker tint that does not show the green hue.
Watch, as soon as I get it they will change the law.

Is there any option that doesn't include removing the tint? I really do need it as my vision is very photosensitive even with sunglasses. My tint was on when I got my Z and was put on by the dealer. It's a "perfect" job.

California is one of the stricktest states when it comes to tinting and pretty much anything else. You are allowed only a 70% tint (70% of light passes through while 30% does not). You cant tint the front windsheild at all except for the top 4 inches. You can do anything to the back windows except we dont have any :|.

70% tint is hardly worth tinting at all!!! Im thinking of going 60% maybe even 55%, but i dont want a ticket. Will 55% be too noticable or can i go lower???

I think you are allowed to have perm. tints if it's for the medical reasons. Talk to your Optomertrist and get a note saying that you need the tints for medical reasons. And show it to the cops when they pull you over.
