Default Laser use in Texas?

I normally don't speed that much as I have only been pulled over 2 times in my life. However I noticed that since I started driving my Z I have picked up the pace a little. I am going to to invest in an escort 8500 x50 (hopefully it won't give me false hope and I speed more b/c of it).

Anyway my question is about laser use. I do most of my driving in richardson and plano. I drive in Dallas and on 75 sometimes but I don't really speed in these area's. I also take i45 to houston every now and then, go to waco some, and take highway 6 from waco to college station from time to time.

I was wondering if any of these area's had high usage of laser guns. I would hate to spend alot of money on a laser shifter if I never use it. I figured once I got the detector I would play it safe and drive normal till I see it go off in the area's I drive so I can learn what band they use.

If your radar detector goes off on laser it's about 99% that you just got tagged. The Valentine V1 picks up laser better than the 8500. Check our radarbusters.com.

I was reading up on radar/lasar in the U.S., and if I remember correctly, there is about 1 laser gun per 10 radar guns. I did see one in Dallas a few weeks ago on the freeway. Even if it is radar, you probably do not want to do more then 20 over the speed limit.

The V1 saved my *** w/ laser twice in Carollton (coming off 190 towards Old Denton and on Old Denton between Keller Springs and Beltline). Both times, the police officer was shooting laser at the cars in front of me and I guess the beam bounced/refracted/whatever and my V1 picked it up.

When you're speeding, make sure you're not in front and not in rear. :-)

Michael.

as an answer to your question, yes...laser in your areas. I drive to CS sometimes too. I see laser all the time. Im mostly in FW though...still think its worth it. I want laser shifter and radar jammer on my ride.

Just got a ticket from DPS. He went "instant on" as I came over a hill. Bastage.

I got tagged by Richardson PD on 75 between Campbell/Gatalyn with laser back in October. I was going 79 in a 60.

If you live in Dallas, the YES laser is a big thing. I invested in a shifter after two speeding tickets by laser gun within 3 months. It works like a charm. Cops just kinda look as you as you drive by. Has already paid for itself. My tickets were on 635 in N. Dallas and I75 near Park Ln and Northwest Highway.

yea since I got my detector I noticed most of the laser use was around the freeway so I don't speed so much around there... I got the 8500 so I will eventually ad on the zr3 once I get around to it, but for now I am just staying in the second fastest lane and letting the other speeders clear the way for me.

I had laser used once on me on 75 going North right around the Richardsson area. The cop was standing on the overpass bridge right before the George Bush entrance, I got lucky though and they tag-teamed someone else.

As I'm sure you know, Hwy 6 is usually quite clear until right before, during, and/or after those small towns. They live on collecting money from speedsters.

I have not encountered a laser attack as of yet on this section of roads, but you never know...

I've noticed a lot more use of "instant on" detectors out this way. No laser yet. Mostly Ka band. And the Keller PD has been nice enough to come up our way too. So now we've got any one of 4 local jurisdications that can snag you. Of course it never seems their overrunning each other - must have their days scheduled.

I've picked up laser down in Fortworth - there's a trap down on south loop 820 that's quite popular. They set up on the overpass with a gun...........

My V1 hasn't missed anything yet..........

My Theory: Follow someone else that's speeding, and make sure you have 24 Hour Nationwide Legal Representation...I Do..
