New member wanting a Z
I am new to the boards, so hello to all. I live in beaumont, TX. I am 20yrs old and want a 350Z. I recently went to the local dealership and got the price and what notes would be, and also what the trade in value of my 2004 Ranger Edge would be.
That is the price sheet of what they gave me. I am hoping to find someone in the Houston area that will give me a better deal. Let me know what you think of this deal. I thought it was quite funny, that they are charging me to take my truck as a trade in..
Thanks,
Julian

Hi Julian, I can't open the jpg you attached. Can you just post the price?
But 350Zs are not usually discounted much. I got some off the sticker price on my 2004 touring coupe from Sterling McCall last year. You certainly can shop around for a different dealer. You're not obligated to buy from your local dealer. Good luck with the shopping and welcome to the Houston Z community!

the general rule of thumb about trading in the car is - dont do it. you can almost always get more money from a private sale. dealerships will scam scam scam you if you offer a trade in. they will give you a HUGE discount on the Z and tell you all sorts of crud and then shorchange you on your trade-in to make up for it.
if you can get the Z down to dealer invoice or +500 its a good deal. if you can get below invoice it's a steal!
i got my 05 for 300 under invoice (of course it was new years eve...hehe)

They listed sale price on the Z for 27,560. AFter the figured in all the trade in and so forth the end price was 27,937. She made it out to be a great deal on the car. I laughed in her face telling her she was charging me to trade in my truck, not assisting me in lowering any price. I figure Houston dealerships might be more willing and able to deal with the market and economy pretty good. I am thinking of waiting until the 2006 models start coming in so that it will be better to bargain. Also I was wondering what your sticker said with all the options, and what you paid the invoice price and so forth. Also what your monthly note is, if it isn't to much personal information and also what dealership you dealt with.
Thanks,
Julian
Thanks,
Julian

I purchased my 35th Anniv. Z from Streeter-Smith in Conroe. The buying experience was super laid back, got a decent discount and was not pressured to buy.
Salesman was Bob Tegtmeier, who is very easy to work with and has sold a lot of Z's. You can reach him @ 888-760-2446 (toll free).

why not take a road trip to dallas? It's about a 6hr drive, and if you take 287 it can be a fun one with a new car. I just got a job at Bankston Nissan in Lewisville, so...If you're interested...let me know.
Good Luck,
Ben

Ben, Can you give me the invoice price of what a base model 350Z would run. This is exactly what I am looking for: Super Black , Carbon Interior, 6 spd manual, Cd player, power windows/locks, floor mats, and a trunk carpet mat, and Nismo Silver Wheels, front bra. These are items I feel are useless for me: sidecurtain airbags, nav system, factory sub, chrome kick panels( I may get them later on)
I guess this classifies as the base 350Z, I really just want the car with the basic necessities, not all the bells and whistels. I plan to do a full system install, so I am not concerned with the audio system in it now. If you can let me know invoice price and possibly what you can do price wise for me I can see about making a trip up there soon. Please don't devulge information on this forum if it may cause job problems, email me at jabshire409@gmail.com and I will keep it private. I just need to know entire price and what not before I make a 6 hour drive just to talk, you know what I mean.
Thanks,
Julian

Just a couple of friendly tips...
1st - go up from the base model.
With the Enthusiast's Model, you'll get the HID headlights (which are very cool) and the LSD Rear-end. I think if you'll do the research, you'll find the Enthusiast's Model is the best "bang for the buck" .
2nd - Don't buy any options.
Most dealerships will offer you a 15-25% discount on parts.
Buy the car, then later on, buy the parts with your discount (floor mats, shift *****, etc...)
Just my .02
Good luck on your purchase,

Anyways just be careful... with the dealerships after you have spoken for 4 friggen hours... and the sales guy has given an inch when you asked for a foot..... and you are tired but finally give in b/c you want your car so bad you can't stand it... Then they hit you with the last guy you talk to... the Finance guy... He will NEGATE every inch you fought for with the sales guy and slyly and calmly make up BS reasons why this is that and that is this. It's doubletalk that the finance guy is good at. But they know you are tired and barely understanding a word of his double talk and you sign a completely different deal in the end b/c they changed it at the last minute and now you go home happy b/c you got your Z but your rubbing your head why a comfortable drivers seat hurts so bad on your bum. When you get home a few hours later you'll realize its because you've been totally reamed up the yin yang but by now its too late. Anyways, good luck
Watch out for junk fees and walk at the first sign of double talk or adding outrageous junk fees.

It appears that you are upside-down on your trade. You may just ask them to cover the tab for you. Also, definitely don't get the base model. I know a few people that got the base and they all regret it. You don't have to spring for the track but get at least the enthusiast model. Also, from what I have been seeing on this board, you might want to get the nav because that is something that a lot of people wish they could go back and get. No one I know or heard from ever said anything like, "I wish I had a gotten a lower end model." I don't like the performance model because everything added to it, you want to turn off anyway. Either get the enthusiast, or go all out and get a track or touring.
From an earlier post you said you want a base w/ Silver Nismo wheels. If you're refering to the LMGT4's, you'll be hard pressed to find one on a base not to mention make it that much harder to cut a deal. I also agree that you should probably step up to an enthusiast. The LSD is handy on RWD w/ this much tq when it rains.
As for your price sheet it looks like you still owe on your ranger, is this correct? As for the price they quoted you, seems like they are bending you over. Pre TT&L my dealer offered me 27K for my enth. PM and I can give you more details. Also as for financing, you are also getting reamed. Check w/ local banks and if you are a credit union member even better. DO NOT SHOW THIS PRICE SHEET TO ANOTHER DEALER! You're doing the right thing though by shopping around. Good luck.

I've bought 2 Z's from sterling McCall in houston, They are pretty friendly and straight forward. at least my sales guy was. The first was in 2003, Base model for $25 or $26k whatever the sticker was, they wouldn't really budge back then. Now I have a used 2004 that I've had for 6 months, it's the Enthusiast model and was $23k. Shop around, you might find a good deal with a used one.
And my 2 cents about the Traction Control after driving a base and an enthusiast is that it sucks. It's just plain annoying to me. Does everyone's kick in when you go over rail road track, bump, downshift, or even sometimes when you accelerate hard. I would prefer to have it without again, but the HID lights, cruise control and garage door opener are worth it, i guess.

Just let you know, the invoice price for the base is around $25000, you should be able to find a base for about $25500. But as for the accessories, I would definitely bump up to a enthusiast, they are really the best bang for the buck! and how many miles is on your Ranger Edge? You are trading in for $7000, and you still got $8000 upside down? Holy crap!!! that is a lot of upside down! I would definitely wait a little while and keep the mileage low, and try to sell it privately to make up all the difference! I've gone in too many time and bought a car with too much upside down, then regret it later! anyways, good luck hunting!
HEy everyone i am also looking for a 350Z in houston. I am in sugar land and i am going to be shopping around for the right Z....
I am thinking about a used one but the prices compare to a new Enthu. Anybody know any good dealerships or what the INVOICE PRICE on the 05 Enthu. AT.

I went to Tom Peacock on I-45N. good service, no hassle, decent selection. Randy Jordan was the salesman for me. He was a nice guy and didnt pull any punches
I got mine for 300 under invoice. go to edmunds.com for invoice and rebate info. also try carbuyingtips.com for info on scams and good haggling info

use edmunds.com for the invoice price. Don't pay more than $500 over invoice. If you are looking at used, kbb.com is good for checking used prices.
What I found useful was printing out all the invoice prices from Edmunds and taking them in with me. I walked out paying $400 over invoice. At one point I got the sales guy yelling, because I wouldn't budge on my price
