Well my car got keyed really bad so its going to be in the shop (again) this monday so i wont be able to make the z club meeting. Im pretty pissed bc i wanted to show ya'll my new mods and discuss where im going with things. Also wanted to see some Z's progress in austin and tortugas varis duct On the bright side im getting my CF hood candy painted like we have been talking about. Anyways just thought id post, pretty bummed right now about the keyed car...but the new JWT flywheel is pretty cool (very little noise too).....

Are you coming out to Texas Z Fest? I haven't seen your registration come thru. You should come out. It will be a pretty large gathering of Z cars from around the state.

 

id like to but i work on the weekends. My car should be done by next thursday. Its being done by annihilator customs. Id really like to be a bigger part of the Z community but my career needs to come first right now

OMG. that really pisses me off when someone keys another person's car. its a shame. i saw your car from the highway on my way to work with the hood one..looked cool. i go by then but i always seem to miss u. didnt you say free meal if i go by? lol. u working this weekend, ill stop by.

 

i work sunday and friday night. The hoods going to be painted on monday by annihilator customs the way we talked about solidsnake. Hopefully it looks awesome

 

hey i want mine painted SB to match the car.. also i want to remove the liscense plate on front and fill holes. oh and do you know anyone in austin that could paint my wheels? I want to paint them gloss black to match car.. let me know and ill try and stop by sunday.. what time would be best?

 

For sunday it doesnt matter im there all day. Best time i guess would be around 3. As for painting wheels id call annihilator customs. They seem to know what they are doing and had good prices but ive never personaly dealt with them before so i guess you will find out by how my car looks.

 

Good news is that you should have your car back in time for the Z Fest...right? I am not entering my car into the car show, but I will still go check out some cars and probrably do the drive on Sunday.

Also, if you need a ride to the czot meeting on Monday let me know. I don't mind giving ya a lift. Since I am a newbie you can introduce me to some of the folks. Then afterwards we'll go to Tilted Kilt so you can introduce me to your roomies. LOL.

If you want your wheels painted professionally, the only company I know in Austin is Wheel Technologies at 3109 South Lamar - 512.339.9036. The next cloests company is Wheels of America which is located in Shertz, Texas (just north of San Antonio). This is a company I just happen to have some inside knowledge on. They will paint your wheels overnight and have them ready the next morning. They will remove all of the existing finish so that the new finish adheres completely. When they do a good job, it's good, but you have to be careful because their quality can be lacking sometimes (I worked in this business for awhile so I am probably a little more sensitive to quality details than the average Joe consumer). Just make sure to inspect the top surface and the sides of the spokes VERY carefully. Rub your hands along ALL surfaces to make sure it is smooth and consistent. They offer a 100% guarantee and life-time warranty so if it needs to be re-done, it won't cost you any more. When you drop off the wheel(s), make sure to tell them that you are a very picky customer and want the wheels to be perfect. Also, make sure to request they paint the front AND back (the barrell and behind the spokes and hub). It will not cost you extra and it looks better with big wheels and open-style spoke designs.

Cost: They will charge you $145 per wheel to paint it. It will probably cost a little more to have it powdercoated (which is a more durable finish).

Many Discount Tire stores in Austin use Wheel Technologies (local) or Wheels America (Shertz) as their vendor. Stop by one or two of their stores and ask them to give you a price. You may get the same service for a lower price (I doubt Discount Tire will mark up their rate as high as what you would pay if you went straight to Wheel Technologies on Lamar). Discount Tire is the largest customer for both of these companies, so they get the lowest rate. Regardless of where you take it, make sure to emphasize that you are a picky customer and want the wheels perfect. Your comments should be passed on to the shop and should raise their level of attention when they work on it.

It all depends on annihilator.

My car isnt in conditon to be shown off right now though. Car is dirty! I ned to wash it but have been too busy with everything else right now.

hey thanks for all the info but dude that is a lot of cash just to paint. it sound like a killer deal with the warranty and all but its still way to high. Cant I just tackle it myself? Anyone on the forum done that before. I bet Ill save muchos cash.

ok well heres the story. I have to go clean my old apartment today so i may be going straight from there to the Z meet. If you dont know how to get there its easy. Go south on IH-35 till you see the exit for highland mall/2222. Do a u-turn to be heading north on the frontage road. Look to your right the fuddruckers is back behind some other restaurants but you can see their big sign usually. I will be there, although maybe a little late.
