Hoping you can help me out.

I am coming over from Australia in early Jan and I will be flying some of my team in from heaps of countries for a conference. Having been to Dallas 10+ times, I have never really eaten in downtown Dallas area.

So I was hoping that the local people could kindly recommend some great steak houses in downtown area. Just to give you some ideas, I have been to Del Friscos, Three Forks etc, which are awesome but a little too expensive. If they have a bar all the better.

Also what other great bars, clubs would people suggest in downtown, Deep Elm and other fairly close areas? Most people are into house music.

Steak houses: Bob's steak and chop house: Dallas-lemmon ave and 1 in plano
Smith & Wollensky's: Addison-Dallas Tollway and something....

Clubs: Club Blue, Purgatory, O-Bar, Manhatten's (Uptown), Club Che (Hip-Hop), Club Seven, Eight Lounge, Club Envy, Lush, Drama Room....

+1 for Bob's. Its about a $10-15 cab ride from downtown.

For the best steak in Dallas ask your concierge about III Forks. Go here if you are on expenses.

 

They will have a great time at O-Bar for sure.

 

Chaucer's in addison has great drink specials on Tuesday nights, $2.00 you call its, $1.00 (or $2.00) sake's, $2.00 drafts, but it does get pretty packed inside

I must say Bobs is very nice. Went there in July when I was last in town. Anything very close to downtown? A few of the guys will get lost walking from the reception of the hotel to their room! And I am serious!!!

The Westend is your best bet for food in "downtown". Dallas is a lot like LA in that downtown isn't the main attraction.

The westend has lots of restaurants and bars for you to check out though. And some decent BBQ and Mexican.

Are you in town for a convention?

 

Yup, convention this time.

OK, might have to arrange a cab and head out in that case.

What is the convention? I am in the convention industy. I'm actually typing this from a hotel in Chicago as I am working on a convention here.

P.S. Westend is not even a cab ride. The train that runs in downtown goes there.
