Default Best FI shop besides SGP in texas?

Id like a few opinions on where to take a car for a TN install and tune besides sgp in texas. I had decided on jo-tech but i have seen people saying that they didnt think jo-tech did a good job. Its not like i can know who is the best just by looking at web pages so if anyone would like to post their experiences with their z's id really appreciate it.

I would definitely say Jotech knows what they're doing, I think people get drawn away from their shop sometimes because of the prices & location. Garland is kind of ghetto...no offense to anyone living there.

I've attempted to take my car to SGP twice in the last two months, but they're having software problems with teh Unichip. So I can't get my car tuned by them. I've had two appointments cancelled

I just tried calling them again, just to see if they made any progress...but no answer.

You could also contact Chris at Engine Logics. Chris is the owner of the place. Some of the G's & Z's go to the location.

If you have any questions, here is his e-mail address:

Maybe I would try Boost Logic. They have 3 1,000hp daily driven supras in TX. Their Project supra also runs 8 sec 1/4. They have the world's quickest/fastest street driven SC300. Also they have a BMW M Roadster with over 500hp and high 10sec 1/4 with no traction. Best place in ATX atleast. www.boostlogic.com

Engine Logics was the only performance shop that was able to get a turbo Supra to run after many companies in Houston tried to get it running. They work on many Toyota's, Subs, Mits, and German auto shops who transport vehicles to Houston for them to fix.

To all those saying sgp is a great shop i agree but what they want to charge for a TN install is worse than highway robery. 1800!!!! At that quoted price im paying about 200/hr for labor lol. They said oh well we do a quality install and replace all the lines etc im like ok so we are at 1200-1300 where is the extra 500 coming from. Im all about paying for quality but 1800 is a little steep for a very simple install.

word of advice...take the car to someone who has experience working on Z's or G's...it will be a big headache if you go to someone who has basic knowledge instead of guaranteed knowledge...SGP and Jotech are great choices and even if you do have to pay more than other shops...their experience in doing the work is what matters...its better to have the job done right the first time than to have to keep coming back to get it fixed...try to visit the shop you go to before you get the work done...good luck!

Yeah, it was a software problem for sure. I think they got an updated version of the Unichip software, and they found out the hard way that it is only compatible with Windows 98 or greater. They don't have a laptop with an OS older than 98. So they can't tune because of this.

Anyways, the new plan is to have GRD tune the car the first weekend of May. They will be flying down to MZM in Austin and will be tuning cars.

MZM is good but they only deal with APS. They did my friend craigs Z and his APS TT and they did an awesome job. That car pulled like crazy. You can go by and check how much but I would make an appointment at SGP.

Unless SGP decides to come down some by the time i pull the trigger it will be jp-tech. They are at 1200 and thats much more reasonable. Plus sgp wants an extra 1k over jotech for the fcon package. So id be spending an extra 1.5k just for the same stuff. Maybe id pay it if i thought jo-tech sucked but theu have plenty of experience.

Yes, here is why. I considered getting the aps st (i dont want or need a tt set-up this is a DD not a track car) but for the price of admission and the way my car is already set up the TN was all i needed as far as hardware. The FCON mirrors our own ecu in the terms of power and adjustability where other piggy backs or a reflash just cant. For examply. Im a restaurant GM. My car needs to be able to run anywhere from 32-105 degrees ambient temp. This means that i need an ecu that automaticly adjusts to all sorts of different factors not just a map driven ems like the unichip or utec. The FCON can run maps but it also runs based on target af rations and a high resolution map sensor. So in other words this set-up maximizes my chances of having zero problems which is what i want.
Also i plan on building my motor sooner or later and adding more boost sooo i figure i will want it sooner or later anyways.
