Who all is going to the Z convention in Dallas?
Russ, if you weren't so pessimistic all the time, the events you attend would be better.
Last year was the first year I planned Maxus- and it was the first one in 5 years- and we still had almost 100 cars from everywhere from NYC to Utah show up. This year is going to be bigger and better and we have several vendors from all over the country showing up. The reason turnout isn't so hot at events like these is because of people like you- that put down an event that hasn't even happened and you didn't even show up to last year!
Go back and look at the threads about the event at Maxima.org and you'll see what kind of response we had last year.
Back tot he subject at hand. Hell yes I'm going to be at ZCon! I'll be hiding in the corner in my POS S14, but you guys better stay out of my way at the track!

LOL I hear from people that went to Maxus. I haven't been to any Maxus in recent years. I am told by others what they are like.
And Maxus can't compare to 400-600 cars that a Z-Convention can pull.
Matt you already got your room booked?

My room has been booked for weeks.
And no, Maxus has not- and will never- compare to the Z Convention. Look at the enthusiast base for each car- how many, how dedicated, etc. the Z has a much larger national- and international following than a Maxima ever will. Completely different car and market base. Apples and oranges man. apples and oranges.
Will you have fun at either event? YES. But If I had to choose one event to go to, I'd choose ZCon myself. Since I'm fortunate enough to have the time off work and the money to do it this year, I'm going to be at both of them, and am in fact playing very important roles in both groups.
Stop trying to compare apples and oranges and ask yourself if you're going to enjoy being there.
It all goes back to the old saying 'don't knock it if you haven't tried it." You didn't go last year, so don't knock this year. You're badmouthing something you weren't even there to see!
Another tidbit for you. The last one that was organized was in Atlanta back in 2000 by Jamie. '98 and '99 in Dallas were both controlled hugely by Courtesy, of which I want to have zero involvement with. Last year I took the reigns myself and planned the entire event by myself. There's obviously only so much one person can do, especially with a group of people that say they'll do something and then flake when you set it up. This year, I've had a lot of help from several other people setting things up and things are much more organized, so suffice it to say this year will be better than last.

Going to both is nice if you have the time. I make plans to attend every zcon, and love it. This year is the hardest, since our club is hosting, and a week long event is alot of work.
