Unhappy Ice and Sand in Austin, TX??

What do you all think about this weather? I havent driven my Z in it! I hate to think what it is going to be like with all the sand in the road. My super black is going to have super nose chips. For all you Northerners-this is weird for us

Any sliding stories?

I refuse to take my car out with ice on the road. I hope that it will clear out before noon.

I won't be going out until I have a fairly good confidence level about the weather and ice. I hope the ice melts soon. Unlike some people, the Z is my only mode of transport. Normally, I love days off like this. Unfortunately, I have HUGE amounts of work to do.

My Norwegian friend, curbed his WRX Monday evening doing a simple U-Turn.

For some reason I decided to drive the old car (Sunfire) Monday and damn was I lucky i did! I barely got back home (live on big hill). There were 50+ cars parked at the bottom of the hill where I live, but luckily the Sunfire made it up no prob. Had I driven the Z, it would have been crazy.

articfury,

I know a Norwegian with a WRX, wonder if its the same guy...

This weather blows. Luckily I have a little suv for just this instance. Dosn't look I'll get to pull the Z out of the garage until some time next week.

By the time I found out about the freezing rain on Monday, it was too late. I left work about 7:00pm. There's about 1/4" of ice on my Z. I lived in Upstate NY for more than 12 years, so I had experience with snow and ice, but I have no "tool" in my car. I warmed up the car for more than 15 minutes, let the windshield thaw a little bit and scrapped the ice off with an old diskette from my desk. It worked. Drove home with speed about 20 mph and prayed that no one get near me. Everytime I make a turn the TCS light is flashing on the dash. Got home safely. Thanks God, no dent.

since my G is my only car, i had no choice but to drive it in the weather. let me tell you it was a handful. all of you guys complaining about the stock tires on your car should try these Pilots in the ice i could only start out in 2nd. and even then it felt like the car was "crab-walking". i will be buying a beater in the next month or so. all i could think about was wadding my precious ride up on some bridge.....
