DFW - Good dealer experience with transmission warranty...so far.

I talked to them about the aftermarket clutches, and they told me that they can and will install it. However, there will be a labor fee of about 50 dollars. Now Jim, if you can talk them into doing it for free, then you save ME the trouble of talking them into doing it for free. I don't know where Todd got his done for free, but that is what Roger in Service Dept at Courtesy told me.
So yes, they will do it and it will not void your warranty.

Really? Talked to Mark yesterday and I asked him how they would handle me bringing in an aftermarket clutch and he said just bring it in and they'll put it in. I asked him about labor and he didn't mention any extra charges. He also mentioned that it won't affect my powertrain warranty except the fact that they won't warranty the parts. Now I know if I were to change the fly wheel out it would be extra. $50 is not bad considering my buddy is getting quoted $750 to install his exeddy dual carbon from infiniti. I'll ask again. Right now I am having trouble deciding which clutch to go with. I'm pretty much on the fence bewtween JWT clutch/wheel combo or the ACT. You guys have any inputs on this? I'm also going to ask them to replace the line with a Nismo stainless steal. All and all it's looking like the whole thing is going to cost a grand. Chris what clutch are you going with? I saw you were trying to go for that exeddy. Any luck with that?
I asked Roger and he said he can't tell the technicians to do it for free, but he can ask. Hmm.. I'm gonna be mad if you get yours done free and I don't.
Back when I got the transmission swap for the first time (2nd now), they quoted me 900 for the wear and tear parts including parts. Rediculous! (McKinney Nissan)
I'm not sure what clutch I'm going to get, but I'm not getting the flywheel. I can't afford to spend money on things that I really didn't want in the first place like this. I'll let you know what clutch I get when I get it.
And the specific exedy clutch in question has issues, so I'm staying clear of that. I gained some knowledge due to this whole thing. At least I got something out of it.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that my 009 tranny came in this Wednesday. I won't getting mine done until I get a new clutch kit.
Any update on getting the clutch & pressure plate installed for free?

I know the clutch disc should be free because they have to take the pressure plate off of the it anyways to replace the disc, which is part of the warranty for the first replacement. For you Chris, since this is not your first tranny replacement, the dealership could charge you for that. I know for a fact that the flywheel will get charged extra. I need to call Mark tomorrow and ask him about it since I'll be ordering my clutch before I call him. I'll let you know when I find out.
Update:
I dropped off my car at Courtesy today and it'll be done by tomorrow. My service advisor told me that they do not give free clutches no matter what. Also, according to him, because the CD009 transmissions do not require them to take out the clutch when doing the install, they have to charge for an aftermarket clutch install, which is $49.88, iirc.

LOL that's not what Mark told me. I asked him over the phone how they handle to clutch during a warranty replacement. I asked him what they replace besides the tranny. His reply was "We generally replace the clutch disc only at no extra cost. If you want to bring your own parts we can do it for free, minus the flywheel, but we just won't warranty the parts." With that said I thought the clutch disc replacement was for first timers only. Aren't you like on your 3rd tranny?
edit: Btw my JWT combo is scheduled to be in sometime in the middle of the week. I'll be done before the week is over. I'll keep you guys updated also.

And Roger said they USED to give free clutches but not anymore with the CD009 transmissions. And yes, I'm on my 3rd one. Hopefully what caused it to grind was the old pressure plate. If that's the case, after my aftermarket clutch kit goes in, it shouldn't grind anymore.
Oh well 50 bucks for a new clutch install is pocket change. My buddy is wanting Infiniti to install an Exedy dual carbon into his G and they are charging him $750.00 just to drop the tranny
He was joking around with me saying S__T I wish we had tranny issues with our Gs.

The gears are smoother when shifting, but 5th and 6th requires more push/pull for it to get in gear for some reason. And because the clutch has much higher clamping force compared to stock, I'm gonna need time to get used to it. I like it, but it's slightly harder to drive. Can't imagine how Nick's feels.

OKAY!! Finally!! I got my JWT Clutch and Flywheel in today and turned everything into Courtsey Nissan. I should get the car back Weds.
P.S. kwiker - I asked the service manager about the thing you wanted me to. As I suspected he didn't know jack crap. I will print out what you wrote and go over it with my mechanic if I get a chance Weds. or so.
