Default DFW - Good dealer experience with transmission warranty...so far.

I have a 2003 350Z with about 22k miles on it. 3rd gear started grinding about 19k miles. I don't drive my Z very much because it's my weekend car therefore the problem was bearable. This morning I went into Courtesy Nissan off of 75S between Collins (**** you Nick you happy now )and Campbell for an oil change and I mentioned the fuel recall and the transmission issue. The service writer took my car in immediately without an appointment and had a mechanic look at the car. 30 minutes later he came back saying that a new transmission was on order and that they’ll schedule me in next week to get both issues resolved in one day. I had put this off many times partly due to reading all the horrible dealer experiences many member have had. For me so far Courtesy has made it quick and pain free. I will update my situation once the work is complete, but so far so good. Just want to throw the word out to the DFW members.

Which service advisor did you talk to?

I've had a few services with Courtesy Nissan, and they did a good job plus not let me wait for too long. I personally recommand this dealer.

I have purchased my last two cars fron North Texas Nissan. They are a great group up there and have always taken care of my needs. I know the owner and the sales manager. They are both big car guys and post regularly on DFWStangs.net. There service department is top notch as well, and they look the other way when it comes to mods.

Hmmmm...i might start taking my car there.

Also....Jim....the dealership is freakin between campbell and collins, beltline is like 2 more exits down the highway....jerk. Are you trying to get your fellow 350z buddies lost or just trying to waste our gas? You should sell your car and buy a S2000...i heard from someone on here they are left wheel drive.

Just kidding, but hey...get the name of the service advisor you were working with, and ask if they are mod friendly b/c i have a crazy clutch. I will probably take my car there since Nissan of Mckinney curbed my wheels.

What other cars have you owned, f-body? I think i know you from some other forum or maybe from around here.

Now i'm thinking you have a mustang, like an 87 GT or something maybe...lots of work, polished everything under the hood...i could be going crazy.

Yeah I've been there before and they are great but just too damn far. As far as their sales team is concerned I don't know about that. A buddy of mine worked there as a salesman for a couple of months when he got laid off and you wouldn't believe some of the stories he'd told me about ripping people off. But then again I bet things like that goes on around every dealership. If you've done your homework all of this is a mute point.

Collins..Beltline..just the same since there's only one way to get to the dealership from the highway. As far as mods are concerned the issue was never even mentioned. I forgot to ask Mark Baily, my service advisor, about changing the clutch out and how it would affect my warranty. I will update that too when I talk to him again next week. I also forgot to mention as I was waiting for my car I test drove a 07 Altima SE AT. I have a 2005 Altima and I really wasn't too impressed by the changes. Besides the new features it's pretty much the same car. HP went up to 270 but the AT really killed the experience. The intell-key was really cool though. It works just like the lexus version. Oh yeah and Nick, the S2000 or any other car would run donuts around your Z because you have to get out of first gear to race. Can't go anywhere if you choke your car all the time...gotta crawl before you can walk buddy

Tell him you have a bunch of 350z buddies that will bring their cars to him if he overlooks all mods...unless you are asking for a new motor on a FI or nitrous car. I really need a worry free dealarship with someone i can trust working there...i can't drive to Arlington when i need some warranty work.

Thanks Jim....you're da' best.

Yeah I"ll gauge the guy and see if he'll turn a blind eye or not to mods. If not maybe a few of my other buddies by the names of Franklin, Grant, and Jackson can convince him

I guess I gotta try this dealership out. I've had bad experience with Nissan of McKinney and when I went back for the 2nd time about my transmission they said they couldn't do it. Long story. I'll try this dealership this week.

I though the 03-04 didnt have the oil consumption problem? Sounds like you need to pick up the phone and ask them about it 972-231-2600.

I think you've misinterpreted my intentions. (Damn this internet you can’t hear the inflection in my voice) I wasn’t trying to be mean, sarcastic, or rude; I really do think you should call them up if you are interested in getting your engine checked. I would because unless there's somebody here who's gotten it done or knows what the dealership charges. I wouldn't be comfortable in telling you otherwise. I am assuming anything that has to do with the powertrain should be covered under warranty if you qualify, but I really don't know. Call them, find out and then let the rest of us know.

The non-revups aren't known to have oil consumption problems. Only the revups are the ones that have been serviced for that particular issue. So the TSB or warranty work will probably state the 06's but not 03-05, which means you'll have to pay out of pocket.
