How much does it cost? I was thinking about this the other day when my friend's family's business got robbed. Do you go to the gun range at all Nick? Maybe we should go cap off a few rounds the next time I go.

^^^Actually, i just went on memorial day. Put 250 through my newest one...it's in my sig.

About the price, I'm not 100% sure. The classes are usually around $120 and the fee to the state is $140. It would be an all day on Saturday or Sunday thing, 8am to 7pm.

edit: If you fail any portion of the class, you have to pay in full again. Once you pass the class you can send in the fees for the actual license.

I wish this was readily available in Cali. If I was in Texas, I would SO be there with you.

You know that you can get the Florida CWL and its cheaper. The laws of reciprocity allow you to use the FL license in 28 other states as well.

The topper is if you have ever served in the military or are currently serving in the military all you have to do is show your DD214 or your Active Military ID and you can get the license without having to take a safety course.

I have had mine for a couple of years now and have even shown it to a cop or two as required with no problem at all.

PM me if you need more information.

I have a huge collection of firearms and would love to bring some of them out for a range session if anyone is interested.

Let me know. Let's plan on a meet to blast off some rounds.

getting your chl is money well invested! get pulled over no problem sometimes the cops let you off easy too. ive noticed that when they find out you have a chl they know your criminal record is minimal or none since you cant get a chl with a bad record. so they kinda ease up on you

Definately interested in a range day, i love shooting. I only have two .45's right now, but i'm about to make a significant investment in some ar-15's(one rifle and one pistol) and various hk's.

I'm going to get my chl b/c i always carry in the car so i might as well spend a few bucks and do it right.

Nick, i'll probably go with you... i just need a set date at least 2 weeks in advance... I'll also go to the range too... I always fancy firing some rounds off but i don't have anyone to go with... and shooting by yourself is kind of boring...

I currently have a Walther P99 9mm but am shortly getting a Springfield .45 1911...

Well lets see about doing it in about 2 weeks from now. This weekend we have the Gun Show at Dallas Market Hall, i'm going to try to snag a HK Mark 23, and maybe some others, that is my main goal right now though. I also want to build a tricked out AR15 Pistol. Oh yeah, off topic---hot import nights is this weekend too.

Being military ftw.

Plus we get huge discounts on guns hahah.

My mom just got her chl and bought a S&W and depending on where you go we get anywhere from 30-40% discounts.

When I do get mine I'll probably get a glock since I know how to use weapons and like that it only has passive safeties.

I also don't see why everyone is so caught up with double action.

yup!!! double action IMO sucks... especially for the Walther, the DA trigger pull is heavy and long, but is designed so that you would really be intending to shoot something if you pulled the action all the way...

consecutive SA shots are short and light...

Nick,

I'll talk with my Sup and see if i can get the day off...

Is the CHL place open on Fridays? that would be a perfect day for me no flight... getting the day off... no problem... Saturday we have a flight and it's our heaviest day, so they prefer for me to trade a day... EXTREMELY HARD...

let me know... i'm really interested in going...

Have you looked at the Kimber .45's...they are really nice. Everything that you would have to do to the 1911 is already done. Polished throat, trigger action, Bull nosed, full length guide rod, etc...

Might be worth checking out !
