Does anyone know of any reputable stereo installers in Fort Worth or Arlington? I have a HU and amp to be installed.

i would say get a shop to do the amp install... if you're comfortable ripping apart the dash of your Z then go right ahead... but if you're like me and don't want to F anything up take it to a shop...

they will have all the correct tools to take everything apart, and have the right tools for snaking wires around in your car unless you just want exposed wires in your car...

my shop managed (probably not a big feat) to snake a zero gauge cable to the rear of my car... and i still can't figure out where it goes exactly...

It runs under the molding that the door seals to.

Ill be more than happy to help you with the install. Running the wiring is actually pretty easy. Actually a couple friends and I would be more than happy to help you but youd have to drive to us. We have tools and such. We both installed our own systems.

uhhh.... DONT GO THERE!!!

i had my stereo installed by them a couple times...

now for running wires and installing HUs... sure... whatever...

but when it came to the construction of my L7 sub box... they completely F'ed it up... two drivers in the same box, wrong wiring format, incorrect port placement and manufacturing... not to mention charging a hefty price to do all these screw ups...

they then fed me some BS about my Ohms being incorrect for the set-up...

i took everything home, dis-assembeled everything... and rewired everything (inside the box) ripped out the port, sealed and seperated the two chambers and that system HIT!!!...

all i did was look up the box design manual available to download from Kicker.com

BTW... they charged $650.00 for the install... and box manufacturing... WTF???

i could have done a better job with a team of chimpanzees

amp isn't too hard. cut open the firewall and get a friend to help you see if the wire goes through the footwell of the passenger side.

wiring an amp is pretty easy, simply put a small cut in the rubber grommet and stick the wire through. whats the amp going to power? are you running new speaker wires to the door or are you using the stock wires?

Alright here is the deal. I'm using stock wiring because I don't have the brain to go there. I want to put the amp behind the passenger seat but cant I run the power wire to the fuse box because otherwise I will have to run an additional remote switch to turn it off and on right?? The amp is only going to push the components in the doors. Also, I can run the speaker connects from the wires behind the Hu directly to the amp right?? Man I shouldn't do this myself.

Thanks for the help bro. I guess I'm not understanding the remote turn-on switch??? To keep the amp from being on all the time, I hear you run a wire from the amp remote plug to the antenna wire behind the HU???

this aftermarket HU's have a remote wire specifically for amps. since you are using stock speakers using the stock wires is probably the better choice. if you upgrade speakers you should run new wires.

so since you are using stock wires, and lets say HU is already installed. you would need to run rca's from the HU to the amp. then run the wires for the speakers from the amp to the HU, cause thats where the wiring harness is and where you would tap into the stock speaker wires.

Ok that's what I thought. I already have my new components installed. I just need to install the HU and amp. The head unit I got is an Alpine 9885 and an Ed amp. I'm going to keep the stock wiring though. I don't want to tackle that monster right now.
