new ticket =(
i got my first ticket today =(... 77 in a 60, in houston - 610, in bellaire area. Anyone have any ideas? I can take defensive driving, but I don't really want to pay the ticket. Also, I will be out of town for college by the time the court date comes around. I know that in Cali you can do something where you contest the ticket by mail... is something like that possible in texas?

Sure, if you have the time you can go to court and get the ticket fine lowered, other then that I doubt you can do anything. 100$ court fee, 40$ defensive driving, 140$ better then 180$+ for the ticket. Mines was the exact same 77 in a 60 but he wrote me down for 70 in a 60..

Tickets can not be contested by mail in Texas. The offender has to go to the courthouse to do this, this includes all date resets.
I'm not sure how fast above the speed limit you must be going in order to not be eligible for defensive driving though. You can always call one of those comedy defensive driving clubs and ask. You will need a copy of your driving record from DMV, Austin. I suggest requesting it asap, if you plan on taking defensive driving....
