Yes...no doubt Travis. I missed some easy shots and really should have gotten a good 12-14 if not my limit. But funny thing was I got a few birds that were really hard shots and missed the easy ones !

 

Yes I do, thanks for the offer - but you are nowhere near Plano - i really just want to knock 1 stud out - and confirm the studs I bought are long enough - if they are - game on, if not - pfft i'll have to order longer

I've never done it on any car let alone a Z - so i'm a bit weaarrry - I bought the Z1 studs for a 20mm spacer - they just look so short.. i'm not certain they are correct - and i am not sure what size studs i have in the car at the moment (they came on the car)

I got kidz about the same age as yours if needed to bring them along though haha - as i said, i'm in Plano - so its quite a drive for you - wife did say its supposed on only be 88 on saturday though !

It doesn't take that long to replace studs. I did a DIY on this a while back and there's another DIY for the other end of the car, so I doubt you even need help. Before you take anything out, though, look at the stock one and yours to compare the length so you don't waste your time.

I did a lot of work yesterday getting the FX ready for the drive back to school. Turns out I've rubbed so much in the front that I complete rubbed off the mounting tabs for the fender trim. I wonder what happened to the screws there haha.I noticed I even pushed the fender liner up on the passenger side.

Waiting on the exhaust to show up now, and hopefully that install goes smoothly. Maybe I'll jack it up the night before and get the current exhaust off to save time.

what do you do to the FX that needs to be restored before the drive back to school ?

 

Well I did an oil change and cleaned the air filter. Also took off the wheels and double checked suspension bolts. I needed to replace a sway bar bolt and double check the others. I also slid under there to see if any exhaust stuff was loose. I guess I just blew another gasket.

It's mostly just looking over things to make sure everything is fine.

Oh and I think I'm going to Steve's Monday morning, he's out of town this week. I'm hoping to leave for school that same day so I'll be there early.

 

Mike - I don't mind driving anywhere, but Saturday is busy for me. It's a super easy job - it took me longer to get the wheel off than it did to knock out the old stud and put the knew one in. It literally came out with just a smidgen more than a love tap of a 4lb hammer.

 

i still need to figure out what the popping is when i make a hard right, not sure if the exhaust is hitting the subframe or something in the rear end... needless to say it is drivving me crazy.

 

We can check it out when we do your shocks.

 

wonder if it may be the sway bar in rear?

It is man. I was also worried that it would be a pain, but it was a pleasant surprise when the stud just popped right out.

 

Mike, I slightly mis-posted yesterday. I made a thread on stock size studs for the rear (been a while) and there's another DIY for longer studs (saw this pop up again not too long ago). The fronts are easily pressed out and the stud length isn't a problem there.

I know Eric offered to help, and he will make sure you get it all done properly, but I can help out as well whenever you guys get started or if Eric can't make it. I'm in McKinney, btw.

 

yeah 3hree5ive0ero - it looked more involved than poppin the stud out.... I am only doing the rear studs - but I'm going to give it a whirl starting Saturday morning - if your in Plano and want to stop by - your more than welcome

I might be able to come out if you're going to be working on it Saturday morning. I've got plans for the afternoon, but just might swing out your way in the morning. I guess I should have specified... the fronts are easy breezy, but I've not messed with the rear. I've look at tutorials though and don't see how it's much more difficult.

 

So tired if shiet breaking on this damn car man. I fixed the fugging radio, plugged the triple gauge cluster back in and now my god damn thermometer is broken. It won't display temperature and says icy. I'm tired, hot and super fuggin pissed. I'm gonna go get drunk now. At least i can't screw that up.

 

Anyone have some old stock brakes? Need to rebuild my brembos

Man this is ironic. I plan to rebuild mine during the winter and just yesterday had to ask my wife where my stock rotors were. She took them to O'Reilly as scrap with the other rotors that were in the garage.

I have calipers and pads, but no rotors. If you need to borrow what I've got let me know man. I'm just up the road from you.

Patrick - I've heard before that when the thermometer reads so hot it can malfunction and show "ICY". Check it again after you've had some drinks and both you and the Z have cooled off.
