I've read mixed reviews on the s&w sd40ve. What I found to be effective is to research the top rated concealable guns, then take that "list" to a gun store or show and then personally feel each one. To me ergonomics is really important.

I've held and fired a lot of sub compacts and compacts. Just choose the one that feels the best to you. I personally, am going to give the S&W M&P Shield .40 a try. Coming from Glocks, I hope that the S&W will be just as solid and reliable as the Glock.

If you guys are interested in going let me know. I think I saw it's the second weekend in April. I haven't been to one since I was much younger and was just there for a hunter's safety course, so I'd like to go with people who know there way around a bit better haha.
I picked up the XD-m 3.8 compact in 9mm for wifey when it first came out (lewisville gun show for $538) and fell in love with it. We had a XD-m 9mm and 40mm full size and sold both of those off. The 3.8 compact is perfect for conceal compared to the full size. I like having both mags (extended or slim) to use either on the go or at the range. The size feels perfect and only the M&P Shield would be a close runner up. I personally use a Kimber .45 ACP ultra carry II Stainless with night sights. I would be down to go with you to the gun show and pickup a 12 gauge shotgun.

Maybe we should have a range meet so those looking to purchase can shoot what others have. I've got the S&W M&P40C.

I'm certainly not an expert on guns, but I handled one of these and came away very impressed given it's price point. Of course, that's such a personal thing that it doesn't it mean you will like it like I did. Given the price I'd say it's worth checking out.

I've decided I want to try out a Glock 19 as well since it's just a little bigger than the compact XD-m and might fit me better but still be small enough. I shot my friend's Glock and it was nearly dead on accurate, which is rare for me.

off topic question... does anyone know if you have to take the headlight lens off to change out the lens of the projector?

Are you talking about doing the clear lens mod? I'm pretty sure you have to open up the headlights for this install.

I think it's funny how Z guys "upgrade" to STi lenses and STi guys "upgrade" to TSX lenses. I wonder if the difference between the lenses are significant enough.

HAHA, i think it is the actual lens diameter that is the key, ours is 3". they say that the STi lens doesnt have the ripples on the back side of it like mine does and that by not having it, it increases output and makes the cutoff alot sharper

Yeah, we have what's called a Fresnel lens and the other two aforementioned don't. There are actual benefits to having a Fresnel lens, which was originally developed for lighthouses, IIRC. I read those threads and the reasoning for the swap but I don't know if I ever saw much value (or even difference) in the swap. Regardless, it still doesn't change the fact that STi guys choose to get TSX lenses and I always wondered why Z guys don't do the same. Also, I assume they're all of similar size or they wouldn't do the swap.

Travis, you should just retrofit Q45 headlights into yours.

IIRC, the TSX lenses are 2.5" in diameter compare to the 350z's 3.0" diameter . The STI lenses also have a 2.5" diameter as well, which is why they're able to upgrade to the TSX lenses.

I think I do at least. Maybe it's the FX-R? They came in my headlights. Cutoff is definitely noticeable.
