Anybody wanna go somewhere to eat and watch the MAVS game? I know it's last minute cause the game starts at 2:30, but I thought I'd ask. Otherwise I'll stay home.

Any takers?

I would never cut springs as well. I know people who has, those who don't really care..but it's risky imo. Either do it the right way and get coilovers or don't do it at al. I don't mind the rear spring mount cut but cutting the actual spring itself is a negative.

P.S. I thought X-Men was a pretty freaking cool movie! Of course any movie with sweet action is cool to me. They are well over 80million opening weekend already. I think they might make it to 100....impressive

Yeah I saw X-Men Origins Friday night. Very good movie. Can't wait for the followup.

Well I know a guy riding on cut H&R's who owns a body shop and completely rebuilt his FX. I trust his judgment. However, Intrax makes springs that advertise a 1.8" drop which would be another option.

There are local shop owners who blew motors, installed things wrong, charges ridiculous rates, etc. My point is that just because somebody has a shop, it doesn't mean their judgment isn't always the best one. Basically, don't cut the springs.

^^Chris said exactly what I was going to say. Look at SGP in Houston. When I first got my Z they had a great reputation, now it's not that way.

I would take the advice of a community over one guy. *The majority of the time anyway*

Oh, well this guy is in New York. He has had an SLR in for repairs, he custom made new headlights, tailights, added paddle shifters, a carputer, added '06+ body panels. Basically, if there is anyone I would trust, it would be him. Besides, Eibach springs are the ones with the problems. I would never cut one of those. There aren't many options for FX's so a few people have cut springs/shaved mounts. I'm also waiting to hear about the Intrax springs, but that hasn't gone well in the past so no use getting my hopes up.

Cutting springs are never a good idea. The only reason this guy did it was the lack of aftermarket support, not because it was a good idea. Trust me. No reputable shop will ever say to you "just cut the springs and save yourself the money."

I completely agree. It is stupid to cut springs when there are plenty of aftermarket options available. So then you would agree that my best option to go lower is cutting the springs, unless I see some progress on the Intrax springs?

I personally don't care about lowering my car or making the wheels flush or whatever (especially not on a SUV). Anyway, in your position, I'd say the best option is to leave it alone until some real lowering springs has been proven to work well.

Ditto ! Your exactly right Chris !

Thats why I only wanted to drop a little bit from where I was at and when I found those Tein H Springs on CL I was all over them. They actually dropped me a bit more than I expected.

So from a stock Spring & 40's all-around ....the drop turned out Great & the ride is actually much better than expected.

Different strokes for different folks. I personally love the no gap, flush, slammed look. Just not the ultra-stretched tires...

I never thought much about it, until I saw this. However, he has Eibach's and they have been snapping on people lately, so probably not a good idea to cut them.

Eibachs snapping on people? That's strange man. They're a reputable company that has been making solid products for a long time.

Rolling the fenders are easy. Nobody around here has the tool, but some of us local guys actually rolled the fenders ourselves a while back. If you can get the roller and a heat gun (or hair drier), I can help you out and I'm in McKinney, too (on the weekends).

Where in McKinney, btw?

There is a local guy who rents them out. You can find him here.

http://www.rollyourfender.com/

You could normally find someone on here to split cost with you. It's like 50$ to rent it (plus deposit that you get back)

Ya, but it seems to be related to rust/salt. Only people in the NE, and one in Germany. I think 6-7 total so far. Might be a bad batch or something. I think they had been on anywhere from 2-4 years.
