There are no cat-back exhaust systems that are only compatible with DEs or only compatible with HRs.

HRs have different headers and cats than the DE, so the everything after the cat is interchangeable. If they weren't interchangeable, how do you think all these HR people have the HKS, JIC, Amuse, etc?

BTW, the S-Tune Nismo exhaust is a cat-back. The HR Nismo Z's exhaust only differs at the muffler (HKS; muffler sits higher; tips bigger). There are no other Nismo exhausts than these two.

Anyway, if you want the Nismo, then get it... and correct the seller.

I thought that there was a difference in cats ( either the angle the flanges line up, or the size of the actual cat) that would make the exhaust not work.. i guess 3hree5ive cleared it up though.. id listen to him.

The cats ARE different, but only where they mate with the headers. From the y-pipe back, everything mates up like the DE components. I'm not sure if you've seen DE guys buying HR y-pipes, but this has been done quite a few times (although, the gains, if any, are probably negligible in the real world).

And yes, I've been around since 2020, so I'm know what I'm talking about.

difference is the in the headers and how they are positioned and angled downward.

edit: damn chris beat me to it.

What size is the mid pipe though cuz I asked him and he said he thought it was 2 1/2. I thought those exhaust systems were 3". If you all think I should still get it and hopefully fit my stillen y pipe let me know guys. Also so you all can see it it's on the private classifieds under exhaust first page state FS/FT nismo exhaust. There are pics there.

Weldina Nismo exhaust piping is 3" from the y-pipe collector and back.

As far as your Stillen y-pipe, that wouldn't be something I'd run, but I never actually tested it out. The Stillen doesn't any flex pipes, so whenever your engine is under a heavy load, there could be increased chance of breaking a weld or cracking a pipe. The flex pipe in the Y is a must for me, as it reduces the probability. I've still been through 5 sets of test pipes, though (broke them all multiple times, except my current one).

Also, there are lots of good alternatives to the Stillen. If you aren't going to be racing a lot, then I wouldn't worry about the y-pipe.

Did you see the ad and the pics and can you assure me he's using a 3" mid pipe.

That ad is for the Nismo S-Tune Weldina exhaust. Unfortunately all you can see is the muffler so you can't be sure. But if he has the midpipe from that exhaust then it should be 3".

Are we looking at the same ad? The exhaust that is installed on a black Z?

No, I didn't look it up, but if he has the original mid-pipe, then you should be good. Unless it's custom, no other mid-pipe will work, I think.

Finally got to put the top down for the first time since I've been in Nebraska. I'm glad it still worked after enduring the endless days of snow and freezing temps. It was so great to hear that exhaust note after so many months!
