Default Moving to Fort Worth, Advise Needed (Realty)

Howdy Ya'll (Hey gang),

I'll be moving to work at NAS JRB Ft. Worth in about 4-6 weeks, and need some advice regarding realty. I'm excited about the move, and can't wait to meet you all. I have close friends and family in DFW metro area (Irving, Arlington, Grand Prairie, Plano, Dallas, Wylie, Lewisville, etc.), but nobody in Ft. Worth. So, does anyone know any good realtors?

What location would you recommend for: Family of 3 (3rd being a 2 year old), Safe neighborhood, newer communities or older, avoiding traffic if I am going to work at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) in Ft. Worth, etc.
I researched some, but is the area near TCU any good? I would like to avoid the stock yard area due to possible smell? I heard that West side of Ft. Worth is the newer district or newer housing development? What else should I ask?

I'll be getting a short term stay apartment to start, but want to buy a home soon.

Thanks in advance,
G

I have a good friend who lives a couple blocks from TCU. I really like that general area. Yeah, west is also really nice from what I have heard. Can't go wrong with the TCU area though, in fact my friend is moving soon, but they are only moving a mile or two away.

Keller is the first city I thought of when I saw this topic title. I live in North Richland Hills, but am possibly looking for a place in Keller. They have Big houses for great prices, pools, parks, etc. Movie theater off of Western Center Blvd. and good sushi place called MK's Sushi over there hehehe. Good luck on your find. Lots of good areas.

There's a lot of stuff in Keller. I did some filing the last couple days, and I filled up 3 drawers worth of files on oil stuff in Keller.

Thanks guys for your input. I never considered Keller becuase it seems far away. I hated driving 45 min in DC metro to get to work. I'll look into both Keller area and TCU area. Any input/feedback on West Fort Worth? Thanks again.

I grew up in Fort Worth and lived in Keller about two years ago. West FW is full of new homes if that's what you want. Prices range from 100k to 180k for most of the area.

Keller is really nice. Prices there are generally 130k up to about 250k for the newest areas. There are also alot higher priced homes in the heart of keller.

If you want to be really close to NAS JRB and wouldn't mind a nice older neighborhood look into River Oaks. It's a tiny city inside Fort Worth that butts up to the Base. There are some scraggly parts of River Oaks, but some really nice parts with good prices on homes. Avoid the White Settlement area (which borders the Base and Lockheed).

Then there's Benbrook. This is a city on the southwest corner of FW and is generally a nice place to live. I have a friend who bought a very nice home in a GREAT neighborhood for only $130k.

If you want more detailed info about some of these areas PM me. Good luck.
