Lots of people aren't looking to join and still do it. The benefits that the US Army offers can't be beat. Even at entry level.

Last years, I have a 41 y/o come into my office and said that his small business of clothing sales was paying the bills but didn't provide him an edge to move forward. Now that he's in, his wife runs their new clothing business on base in Colorado and he has the excitement he was looking for. He is in logistics.

After 19 years of service, I could retire next year, but why. I'm only 38. When I do retire, jobs will look for me and my Bachelor's Degree and my leadership experience...

Just the title alone "veteran" could be used to give you the edge over a lot of people when applying for a job. Just try it for the shortest time possible and move on.
