When I was researching, numerous places told me all clearbras are developed from the same material from 3M, but that the companies who cut them vary. Some tend to fit better than others.

As far as installers are concerned - I would especially watch out for those that "attempt" to use a razor on the car to make the kits fit better. In most cases I've heard that will scar vehicles big-time (very sensitive procedure).

I paid Sunmasters about $350 for the front bumper only. It was one big piece for bumper and a smaller piece for the plastic belor the air intake.

Should get another put on next Monday.

Well.......... I personally have had mine on for well over a year!
Installed by SunMasters (where I've reffered tons of tint jobs) and it was, has, and is still looking Great! U would not know it was there unless you saw the tell-tell line across the hood.

Example of a single piece from Modern Armor

Hood and Mirrors

Front Bumper Facia (little piece for the part on the bottom of the grill)

Lets put an end to this discussion as to who/what best. Single piece of 3m Scotchcal, laser cut for your vehicle, professionally installed on your vehicle without having to cut on the vehicle.

First person to contact me and get this done will get a sweet deal. The rest of you will get a club discount.

Alta Mere Window Tinting
(817) 656-0111

That ^ is Grubbs' window tint and clearbra sub.

My initial reaction is that the job they did was better. Looked like very little or no hand trimming was done on the film. My prior bra seemed to have a couple of cuts around the side marker lights that collected a tiny amount of road dust.

HOWEVER, when I looked at the bra, it wrapped around my wheel wells all the way to about 1" over the black plastic wheelwell lining. It seemed like they had forgotten to trim the inside along the wheelwell?

My service advisor said that they assured him that the whole bra would pull up nice and tight over the next 48 hours...but I asked him to put another call into them when I saw the wheelwells this evening. We shall see what their response is.

Worst case...the inside of the wheel well needs to have a razor taken to it where it overlaps off the body colored plastic of the bumper in the wheel well.

I will update again tomorrow.

Oops, the installer forgot to finish... Yes you will have to have them finish and cut the excess off, or that will be the point of failure. BTW, it will not pull up tight (shrink) but the adhesive will cure and the bond to the paint will be stronger. Just watch out with the high pressure wash wands..

Wierd. There was less material hanging off the edges this morning...significantly less. It was raining though so I didnt get to check it out real well.

I wish my previous installer had told me about car wash wands!! I damaged it with one about a week after getting it. This installer included a "care for" page in my vehicle...made especially for idiots like myself.

Gooters,
Let me make sure I understand- Altamere was the subcon for Grubbs right? Altamere was also recomended to me by my Nissan dealer in Lewisville but I thought they used a different type of material that was non-3M ?
Was your material 3M ? If not, can you tell any difference ?

Sun Masters in Addison on Midway did a poor job on my brothers tint and Clear bra on his 04 TL 3 weeks ago. He doesnt recommend them.

Is he going back to make sure they correct whatever mistakes they made? Paying that much money for a service/product I would make sure that it is done right. Mike is the owner and I know he would do whatever it takes to satisfy a customer.

I agree, I'm pretty sure TXSTYLE was satisfied with his, he recommended Sunmasters to me and others and I'm happy with mine (I only have tint). Mike seemed like a good guy to me, he said they just started doing tint for the Lamborghini Dallas location, FWIW.

Yes, but my understanding is that Kim at altamere has been handling the business that her father started years ago. Altamere is a franchise though.

I do not know if it is 3M or not...I am sure Kim would answer that instantly for you. It looks and feels exactly like the 3M bra I got at sunmasters.

I would feel more comfortable recommending Altamere, lets give it one more day or so and see what the wheelwells look like. Honestly though, the worst case seems to be that her installer would trim them up. The material that has been applied to the bra looks quite nice.

Rapid, if you want to make a drive to NRH area, I would be happy to show you my bra

Are the rest of us invited to your bra unveiling? You know I live like 20 minutes away from you at the most. I could swing by we could see your see-thru bra and maybe even have enough time for dinner and a movie. Who knows.
