Question Clear Bra -DFW area

I need to get some recommendations on a good clear bra installer in the DFW area. I have heard of Sunmasters on Midway but wanted to know if anyone else can recommend an installer in my area.

Thanks,

Send a PM to Bankheist, I believe he might know someplace. I got my tint at that Sunmasters and they did a good job, can't recommend them for a clear bra as I don't have one. You might want to try this in the Texas forum.

if you find one in texas, let me know.

the nearest i found was in denver.

i emailed the company and a month and a half later they emailed me back. they said if we could get 10-12 cars together for a group buy the would have a tech come down here.

here's my orig. email and reply.
the offer is nice, but he didn't answer my damn question. no word on price.
and it took over a month to respond. to me, that's just bad business.

Megan,

No dealers near you, but we could come and do installs if you would get together 10-12 cars in a weekend. we would fly down and do them for you.

Default AlteMere in Ft. Worth...

I got my roadster tinted by an AlteMere in the Lewisville area. I asked them about the clear bra and said that one of their sister stores in Ft. Worth does them. I don't remember which one it was but it was located on 26 just a little South of 820. They also had stock to do spot protection with. I asked them about putting one on the Z and they said they would have to order the kit as it is laser cut. Their price seemed reasonable as I remember. I didn't do it as I'm considering an aero kit.

Hope this helps. If you need more info, PM me. Good Luck.

it's the exact same thing as the clearbra (as far as i've researched) however, any infinity dealership can order and install one for a 350. (it's what they use on the g35's)

Wait for me! I had my clearbra done by Sunmasters on Midway...wasn't overly impressed. I had some scratches on my front bumper repaired by Grubbs and they are going to give me another 3M bra probably next monday (9th Feb).

So...if you wait a few days, I can give you a comparison between Sunmasters and Grubbs sub-contractor (it stands to reason that they might travel too?)

Default Sunmasters

Had my clear bra installed at Sunmasters for $450. That covered the entire front end, A-pillars, top of hood (front 1/3), top and bottom of side mirrors. A section they applied in the front was cut incorrectly or something, so they got me back as soon as I could to fix free of charge. Now everything seems perfect. For the price, quality of install, and customer service I give them an A.

I also had my tint done with them and am very happy with the outcome.

I found this post from someone on this board that does it himself... I hope he doesn't mind:

I sell these things through Modern Armor.

Greg, the owner, does a helluva job as well.

The retail price for a 350Z is $799.95... through me I can knock off $100 for all the guys here.

The stuff is really cool too, it has a built in clearcoat on the exterior side of the material... what that means to you is that the paint underneath the material will fade at the same rate that the non-protected part of your car does.

take a look at his site (www.modernarmor.com) and if you're interested and want to save $100 off of it, give me a call on 214-663-4014.

-Kevin

350zluvr-

Appreciate your inputs. Im still waiting for additional inputs on Sunmasters install results from gooters in above post. Seems like i have seen mixed results for Sunmasters although their price looks god compared to modernarmor -$450 vs $799 is a big difference.
Thanks for your help-

modernarmor's quality of installation and product is better, thus the price difference. And like i said, I can reduce that price if I have to.

Default Here goes the first post...

Howdy y'all LOL Ok got that out of my system...
Moved here from the great white west last year and have been thinking about either a 350Z or a G35 for a while, but neither were good choices for a ski car... But now that I am here either will do the job... A co-worker told me about this site a month ago but - we like checking out the posts at lunch when the admin's don't mind some surfing. Well I thought I would register and give my opinions on this topic as I have had a lot of experience in this area! Most new vehicles (of a certain buyer attitude) in ski area parking lots have some form of paint protection or are totally chipped to ....

Anyway,

ViZion, I called down to Austin Infinity and they referred me to Tint Specialists (thought it could be a good excuse for a road trip when I decide what to get). I called Tint Specialists and talked to a very informative guy about their 'clear bra' At first I was intrigued by the price, (it was $500, not $350). They use a multi-piece bumper - not a single piece. As a ski bum I saw first hand what happens to the low price imitations and would not pay $500 to have seams that WILL trap dirt and WILL be impossible to clean... Ok, so I no longer live in the mts and have to deal with snow, but I would think the seams would be a problem here too.

350zluvr, I clicked the link and the modern armor bumper is one piece and the hood piece goes all the way past the top of the lights. Excellent coverage if you ask me!

I called Grubb's here in town, they didn't know if they did it or not... Said to call back in the morning...

Having lived in the land of snow and sand, I would not drive a new car without the 'clear bra', it is both the best way to keep you car looking good and the cheapest insurance you can find. Having seen good and bad examples I can say this, most times you get what you pay for. Sometimes you get more, but not always. A friend of mine in DC just got quotes ranging from $800-1300 for his RX-8. Be glad you are here I guess.

Still looking for a new car, but I can assure you I will get it with a 'clear bra' and it will be as seamless as possible, and will look so good it will be hard to see. That is the whole point right?

As always, make sure you know what you are getting because all 'clear bras' are not all the same. Just like your Z is not a Daewoo - though built of the same stuff ...

Yes a little punchy, working too hard

i garantee they told me $350. i asked a salesman when my bf was looking at a g35 coupe.
i also know the manager over at austin subaru (they're next door to austin infinity and are owned by the same ppl). the reason i dont think this was a friend discount is b/c the salesman asked his manager, and $350 is the price they returned to me. (as did my friend who works at subaru at a later time)

i'm not sure what you mean buy a single piece. as it was described to me, the bumper is one piece, as are the hood applications and the mirror apps.

if you want to come down here, let me know. i'll see if that $350 price is for everyone. if it's not, i'll see what my friend can do for you. like i said, he garanteed me $350 installed.

I was quoted $500...

I asked if the bumper was one piece and I was told the bumper is a multi-piece unit. But that 'you can't seen the seams' and 'it is multi-piece to make it easier to install, but you wont notice'.

Not sure if they were giving you a sweetheart deal to sell you a car or not. Kind of like a dealer offering more on the trade than it is worth, and making it up elsewhere. All I can say is what I was told.

My research has the material going for ~$500 -- without instalation... Some of the kits I wouldn't want on my car are less, but the good ones are all about the same price.
