It shrunk because it was not really attached to anything. (paint) Have it trimmed (on the painted surface to assure a good bond) and you should be fine. Also ask what type of film they used. If they used Venture (a cheaper imitation) make sure you clean it more often and keep a good coat of wax on it at all times. Venture has not figured out how to make theirs with a clear coat - thus it is porous and will turn a grime grey over time if neglected. Several friends back home found out the hard way... A 'clear bra' isn't worth much if it isn't clear....

Good luck!

Oh and with any luck we will get to enjoy a brief bit of snow on sat! I was ROFL when I saw the hype on the local news tonight about the small possibility of getting ONE INCH.... Hysterical!

I just contacted Altamere and they advised me that they use "Venture tape" which is not a 3M clear coat material. The above post mentioned that this an imitation 3M material that does not have clear coat layer and could discolor over time.
Just FYI for everyone to think about (like Me) before theya make a decision on the clear bra.

I am so PISSED! The clearbra looks like $hit The front of it is great but the edges where they never really stuck it on and trimmed it are all jacked up now. There are bubbles and wrinkles on the edge. And now I have to take MORE fvkcing time off work to take care of this $hit!

Oh, and the paint right under the bra above the radiator is flaking and peeling off!?!?! About two silver dollar sized patches where the paint has flaked off.

I dont know if this dealership is totally incompetant or what. I had to take this up to the GM to get it fixed and now it is just as jacked up as when I started.

I HATE looking like some little ***** to these guys...but they KEEP SCREWING UP!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Also, as long as I am going to rip them a new one this next week...should I ***** about getting a "Venture" bra as a replacement to my 3M bra? Man I am pissed...

Gooters, I'm sorry to hear about all this mess.

Maybe this is pushing it, but perhaps asking to just fix the damaged areas and taking off the bra entirely and going somewhere else might be a valuable option. Oh yeh and of course getting refunded as much as possible should be thrown into the mix with this option. They have some sort of guarantee / warranty for their install right?

Best of luck getting this mess sorted out!

Sorry to hear you are having soo many problems with the Z. I know that the 'clear bra' by its very nature may never really be perfect if you stick your nose on the the car and examine it with a fine tooth comb, but it should be a lot better than your experiences... Part of the problem is the sub-par paint job they seem to have provided. However the people who did the dropped the ball too. They didn't 'finish' trimming their hand cut bumper - which lead to the problems you note with the 'jacked up areas'. Then they used an inferior product to boot! Now I realize Grubbs may not have know the difference, but they told you they were going to replace your 3M bra - and they didn't. I would complain about that as the Venture Tape is a lot higher maintenance. As I said, several cheap friends tried it and were too lazy to keep it really clean and thus the grime grey 'clear bra'.

Best of luck w/ the gm

Grubbs has agreed to repair it...again. They think the paint flaking might actually be a warranty issue, it is in a spot that they had not touched.

At any rate...they will repaint the bumper (I will urge them to repaint the whole thing!) and replace the clear bra...again. I will try to get 3M material used this time if possible.

I would "Pissed Off Beyond All Recognition!"

Good luck to you bro.

As I have mentioned and reffered people tons of times... Sun Masters installed mine (ordered during a Group Buy back in 02'/Avery Denisson Film) my car looks as fantastic as it did since the install! This is by far my favorite MOD.

Gooters,
Man I hope you get this worked out with the dealer. Sounds more like an install problem for sure. I would definitely make them use a 3m film when they replace. I have now heard enough bad news about the Venture tape to make sure I dont use it on mine.

Good Luck and keep us posted on the final outcome.

Okay...alta mere trimmed it and it actually looks really good right now. Of course...they trimmed it while it was on the car >:-(

Anyhow, the bra looks good...car goes in for minor touch up paint at Grubbs on Monday.

Overall, Grubb's work looks fairly shitty. Alta Mere's is pretty good. I waxed the bra last night.

Our store uses REAL 3M products when making 350 and G35 clear bras

I'll even give you the 3M backing when we are done!

Yeah I was to and the owner of the NRH store literally told me he wouldnt honor his own warranty and told me to leave his store never to return. I did with a Cop and a letter from lawyer. People like that shouldn't own a business or talk to humans

I thought the Jotech location is the one that TXSTYLE is talking about. Forgot when it was, honestly.
