the small towns around south fort worth are "Cracking down" on no front license plate law.. my girlfriend was pulled over and ticketed... THE NEXT DAY the same cop saw her and threatened to arrest her if it was not on the next time he saw her..

I MEAN COMON.. WTF is wrong with this idiot cops... i have little respect for them and when they act like this it gets worse..

if they put as much effort into stopping crime as they did picking on people car mods and such..... blah blah blah this could go on for awhile

Texas Law already permits you to drop the requirement to not have a front license plate ---- if and only if your car is 25 years or older! Ah, the joys of owning a 240Z!

Sorry guys, I could not resist. Z Club member and former state congressman Jim Horn originated this legislation and got it passed a number of years ago! AFAIK, Jim was the only Texas state legislator to own a 280ZX equipped with a Z28 tunnel fuel injection motor that sprayed.... heh-heh!

I am busy at work, so I'll check out the link in a bit, but just wanted to comment. If it's talked about on thate page, ignore me.

I have yet to see someone give me a good reason why we have front plates. You can't read a front plate even when someone is passing you at an intersection, if you are stopped. The only possible use I can come up with is being able to record vehicle entry to buildings with video cameras only front facing, which seems like an entirely private problem.

All that said, I don't see anything getting them removed. I don't have one on my car, and have only had one warning for it so far. I wonder if that figure about making half as many plates is true, and if so, I wonder how much of that is offset by proceeds from no front plate tickets. When figuring in no front plate tickets, one has to figure in that this is a fix-it-ticket. Most people who have more sense than money will strap or bolt one on to get the ticket dismissed.

I put this up there behind legalizing marijuanna on my list of things that aren't likely to happen

It's weird. This is definitely one of those issues that the authorities act very arbitrarily on.

For example, I got pulled over for the first time in over 5 years last week as I'd neglected to renew my registration, but I didn't even get a warning for the front plate, just as I've never been warned about it in the past, except for when I took my driving test, when the DPS trooper said if I failed I wouldn't be able to use the same car the next time.

When I went to renew the registration on both my cars, however, one question that they asked that sticks out is "do your vehicles have both front and rear licence plates", which I do not recall them asking before.

Of course, I lied.
