Default Ever wanted to drive a few laps at Texas Motor Speedway in YOUR Z/G ?

I am setting up a get together out at the speedway. Here is what you will get ...

3 laps at speed (80 mph or less or you will be asked to leave)
1 picture professionally taken for you to keep
TONS of socializing and lap time bragging rights

What it will cost ...

Not sure ... but should be less than $50 with everything included. The more that show, the less the cost.

When it will be ...

I am looking for SOLID intrest right now. The date will be on a weekend and during awesome weather.

For background, there have been Corvettes in the past that have pushed the 80+mph limit and found themselves scraping wall !!! So they do get mad if you push the limit. Street tires only. Corvettes have also been known to scrape the nose in the turns at 80mph. This is definitely going to be a blast !!! More details to follow, I just need to find out if the intrest is here ...

Reply with a "heck yeah" if interested. Right now I'm trying to keep it Z/G, but if we need to broaden the field, we may do that.

Is this coming weekend too soon? As it happens, me and the Z will be down from North ARK to Ft. Worth this weekend.

umm, yeah ... this weekend is way too short of notice.

I'll be glad to meet up with you though and have a brew.

Sounds fun but 80mph? I can drive that on the highways for free. Is it really that easy to eat the wall?

No. That track has one of the highest banks in the country. I've driven into those corners going more than 170 mph. I'm betting it's an insurance/safety issue.

ding ding ding ... our loyal Storm Trooped nailed it on the head. The car is easy to waive damage to, a person dying or being paralyzed is a little difficult to legally shake.

It is all an insurance issue. This is planned to be a fun afternoon driving where you normally can't and get a picture of it (pictures don't tell speed).

This was set up all the time with the ls1 guys. 1st year it was cool, 2nd it plain sucked. You cant pass, speed, etc. They have pissed off workers flagging you, telling you to leave etc.

I have known events happening at that track with much greater speeds than 80mph. This included many SCCA events. So I don't buy the 80mph or less.

In the passed it has been that there was a pace car on the track doing 90mph......and you went out in groups behind the pace car.

The Rule was Don't pass the pace car........and don't pass eachother. SO, all that had to be done was slow way up and let the pace car get a good lead on you and then haul *** around the track at the speed you are comfortable with (more importantly CAPABLE of handling) and then get hard on the brakes not to pass the pace car.

I'm interested either way......it's funny how much different thosebanks look in real life than they do on TV....especially at speed.

Am I the only one who read this properly? It is just laps, not HOT LAPS. Driving around the oval at 70 is just boring. There is no sensation of speed, cornering, etc. A couple of years ago at Miata Madness, they had HOT LAPS for $50 for the day. We got 3 20-minute and 1 15-minute session on the infield road course. The only passing place was the front straight, but I was almost up to 100 mph on the backside in my stock 00' Miata. I am holding out to do MSR instead.
