Dallas Negative ... here you go ...

Due to the near constant flow of warm air of the gulf and from mexico, when cooler air moves in from the north during the summer months, hail and severe thunderstorms and lightning storms can be VERY strong.

There's a negative for you.

And another ....

along those same lines, when to mix the air flow from 2 opposing directions, tornadoes can be spawned very quickly.

Good news - Dallas area has very few per year (if any)

Bad news - When we get them, they are NO JOKE !!!

You wanted some "down sides" ... those are about it ... WE are a pretty laid back state in general ... after getting here, you will understand what being a "Texan" is all about.

I still go out quite abit, 27 yrs old, so give me a hollar when you get around town and we can figure something out.

Maybe the local Z's would be up a for a "Welcome to Texas" excursion one night.

So weather isn't so great huh, that will be something to get used. Well I'm still waiting on the department to finalize the details on the relocation and as soon as they do, I'm taking everyone up on the "Welcome to Texas" night out

Ok everyone its update time. Our building will be located in Lewisville, TX- 1945 Lake Pointe Drive to be exact. Transfers will start Mid-August. They have not finalized the relocation packages (meaning how much money they will give to help set up housing and moving)

So now I need to do some research on Lewisville and close surround areas. If anyone has anything to add please feel free. Thanks to all

Look to buy in The colony (name of the city) ... good sized houses and very inexpensive !!! It is about 10 minutes from Lewisville.

Grapevine is a killer area, but you will pay for it. Look to Frisco as well.

Cool, I live in Lewisville. In fact, the area your company is moving to is a great place to take some car pics. lol If you look into Lewisville, Flower Mound, or The Colony, you're not going to have to worry about many traffic headaches. The Colony is probably the least expensive of the three, but you can find some GREAT deals on houses in Lewisville.

If you have any questions, you're more than welcome to PM me and I'll see what I can do to answer them.

And the weather's not too terrible, it's just something you have to get used to. If you're moving in August, you'll be getting here during the worst of it, so just remember it only gets better after August. lol

Thanks for the replies, so Colony and Lewisville are the areas for great pricing on house, I'll make sure to jot that down. Well this seems to be shaping up nicely, I just need the final info from work and I'm set. Thanks again to everyone that has offered info and that have pm'ed me with open arms. I greatly appreciate the consideration of everyones helpfulness.

Hey, I'll be in SoCal the first week of August visiting some friends. What's exciting to do there if they are all at work and I get bored?

What part of SoCal???????? Do you like to lounge around, are you very active and want to be involved with some outdoor activities. What time of day will you be free and will be the weekend or week days.

Number off the bat would be the beaches (any one of them) from San Diego to Malibu you'll see lots of ladies.

Really no matter what your in to you'll find something fun and enjoyable to do. Just give me a little more info on your time frame and what you like and I'll shoot back some ideas.

To put icing on your cake, there is no state income tax in Texas, so you will actually get to keep most of what you make. I moved to the DFW area from Iowa about 4 years ago and never looked back.

hmmmmmm interesting! Been thinking of moving somewhere where the cost of living is not so crazy and there is a beach nearby! Colorado can get a little out of control. I bought a 1800 sq ft condo here for 260K about a year ago. If there is no sales tax there must be a down side? property taxes or something?

Hello everyone,

It appears I won't be re-locating to Lewisville, TX my work has other plans now. I would like to take the time though for all that have given advice/suggestions/ and comments on Texas. Maybe some time down the road I'll be able to move to TX and meet everyone, thanks again for the hospitality.
