Default Insurance Companies

Well I was recently in an accident in my Z and it cost the Insurance company $18,000 so they dropped us after they paid for it to get fixed... Can anyone lend me a hand and let me know of other good insurance companies and your opinions about them... Please... Thanks - Chris

If you're military/ex-military or your parents are USAA is an excellent choice.

I second this sentiment. I have two accidents on my record within the past 3 years (one pre Z, and very minor one after having my Z for less than a month). Compared to any other insurance company out there that I got a quote from USAA comes in at about half the cost.

After my first accident my rates went up from about $70/month to $120, but after the second they went up to $235/month. Each time since they renew since then it's gone down a little (currently $198/month)... and next March the first accident will drop off my record and the rate should drop significantly.

Whenever you do get coverage you might want to look into taking defensive driving as this should get you an additional 10% discount (above rate does not include that discount).

I have USAA and it is by far the BEST company!! I even have my Z's loan thru USAA and got the lowest rate out of any company. I have had them for about 10 years and they have never given me any problems.

Writing that post reminded me that I needed to call USAA and tell them that I'd completed defensive driving recently in order to get a discount.

So, I got a 10% discount that's good for 3 years. My rate is now $180/month (1083 for 6 months), down from $198. That's with two accidents on my record, and (I forgot to mention this before) two cars on my policy.

If you qualify for USAA then get it... as well as HOI, loans, mortgages, checking / savings accounts, etc, etc. Sweet deal.
