Default Timing and Peak Torque

Was talking to some guys at the track this weekend. Had the laptop out and was sitting in the car messing with my maps before each run. The one guy said you want to have less timing at your peak torque for more torque.

Is there any truth to this? Should i leave my timing alone at this area or even back it down. Right now it is advanced 2 degrees with the UTEC.

Anyone??

The timing curve tends to look like the inverse of the torque curve. That being where your torque is highest, timing is lowest. That doesn't mean, however, that jacking down the timing will give you more power there. There's a sweet spot, as always, it'll just be lower than at, say, 6000 RPM.

Really need a dyno to find it accuratly, unfortunatly.

I will have to play around with it the next time i go to the dyno. Learning more and more Have the A/F where i want it, just need to figure out this timing for the most gains.

Thanks

usually more timing gives you more tq and more hp, i have my dyno charts and with two degrees adv across the board. it gave me more tq and hp over the whole graph...
