Default UTEC=Junk?

I badly need a piggy back. It seems like incredibly high number of people are complaining about UTEC. Is it a POS? Don't want to drop 1k and find out it doesn't work

The only thing that sucks is the user interface. BUT...theres a new one out thats for a different version that seems to work with the Z version...do a search. Its a windows XP interface.

the utec is GREAT, they have had some problems but are figuring it out. they have been taking care of all of them and getting them fixed. i would rate it at the top of the list for affordable engine managements for the VQ35DE..

It's the best sub $1000 ECU on the market hands down. 100% control over fuel and timing, and knock feedback. It cant be beat. I am a firm believer, that 90% of the issues people are having, are related to tuning or install problems. The other 10% are legitimate issues, that are quickly solved by TXS and the authorized dealer that sells them.

It is a professional grade engine management system, and does require more technical skill to operate. As such, there are bound to be users that have some issue with it. We use them on every car we tune now....no problems whatsoever. Once the cars are tuned, its a seamless experience to the end user.

I have unreasonable expectations and hopefully it'll give me enormous gains. I've heard people having to ground the wires differently or sum'n..

90% of the UTEC issues are self tuned related...There has been some software issues that were swiftly updated and fixed, 95% of them we discovered and relayed back to Turbo XS in our testings. The GUI is actually on the very simple side and has no bells and whisltes like most other engine managment systems. We have been tunning UTEC's since their prototype phase way back in last October, when 90% of the board was still riding the Emanage Ulitmate jock. There is no EMS on the market for the price that gives the user the control over the engine the way the UTEC does. Those that say the GUI sucks are mostly amature tuners or have never tuned a EMS befor and are simply repeating what they heard or read on the web. The keep it simple stupid, approach TX uses is what I love about the UTEC, along with its ability to interface with the Tuner Pro unit and monitor A/F and knock all from one easy to read screen..
Remember, you dont need pretty colors on the screen to make tuning better.

^ screw you julian lol i like the pretty colors, but your're right.
Once the software for a point and click GUI come out, it just completes the package.

BTW, since all UTEC tuners have MUCH more experience now. Whats the typical HP gain w/ UTEC w/ all the simple boltons (I/E/H, IM, TP)
