is it possible there is a problem with the second unit as well down shift?

that sucks you spent so much on tuning, but can't they still work off of the data they logged during your dyno sessions?

maybe for whatever reason the new unit, or second one, is not working properly either. sorry to here of your misfortune and i hope that you get this resolved without having to spend any more money. good luck

DownShift, maybe there is an unrelated issue with your car, that is causing that timing retard issue you are having. I know it can be frustrating, but TXS is probably not to blame.

It is likely that there is another issue with his car. Prior to the UTEC his MAF would max out whenever it was cold out which is fairly normal but it happened more frequently than anyone else I know. From what I understand he also gets o2 sensor codes even with the o2 extenders.

Matt maybe you can post up which codes you get again.

I think his gripe with TXS is that they would never take or return his call and simply give him stock type answers.

This is the first time I am hearing about this problem. Was I contact by phone previously?

Thanks,

Every time I call TXS, either Jermaine or Nathan answers the phone...so not sure how they could "not take a call".

I'm not trying to slam TurboXS here. Afterall I suggested that Matt get a UTEC in the first place. But I would venture to guess that you get a different level of attention from them than most people Sharif.
Matt can respond to that though.

Just an Update.. as of this morning

Matt,

Please send the unit back to TurboXS. The RMA number is xxxx. Please include all of your contact info and you can put it to attention Mark. I went over everything with him and he believes there may be an internal grounding issue with the injectors. Long story short, your car has the exact symptoms of a unit with a bad injector ground. 9 times out of 10, this can be fixed by grounding another wire in the back of the unit. Unfortunately, I ran this solution by my tech that was working on it and he already tried it.

Let me know when you send it out so I can follow up with them. I think they are just going to replace the unit. I believe you already have the maps out of the old unit so you should be all set.

Let me know if you have any questions. Also, as a side note...Performance Motorsports is coming out with a new ECU for these cars in the very near future and they are going to factory train dealers to ensure cars are tuned correctly. Another option in the future...

Thanks,
Dave

There was a point where I was calling them daily and Jermaine was on the phone with other customers. So I always got the call back at a later time etc. Then there was the whole grounding solution run around. So I finally gave up and just let the shop take it into their own hands (that way I'm not the middle man between them and the tuner)

Just kind of annoying when you spend 900 dollars on dyno time/tuning. And I can't even keep the maps since they were adjusted to see it can correct the Utec retarding. Which ONLY happens with the Utec EVEN on "0". I have my confidence in the shop I went to because Dave recommended them and they have done a few of these already.

So I bought my first Utec back in June, 4 months later and still no go. Going to try to send this one back end of this week when I can go pick it back up.. It's been sitting at my parent's garage since I got back from Toronto.

Hey guys,

I have a Turbonetics G35 6MT 2004.

Just tried installing the Utec today and last night.. I got the switch and MAP sensor in fine. Once I had everything hooked up (and the extra molex ground wire grounded to the bolt).. I turned the car on. I ran REALLY rough.. Studdering etc.. Shooting white smoke with the smell of gasoline.. I assume that the unburnt gas was coming out under my car because of my exhaust leak out of a bad exhaust gasket..
I put the stock ECU (reflashed with Turbonetics ST flash) on the car and it ran fine again..

I confirmed the Utec was in "0" position by going into the Utec Dash and looking at the Map selection.

Is there anything else I should be doing? It's really weird since the Utec should be bypassing everything to the reflashed ECU if it's on "0" correct?

I also just reflashed the Utec and put the new DBW flash on it.. Still.. same problem.

I tried calling you guys just now, but you guys closed at 5pm. So I guess I'll try to get in touch with you guys tomorrow..

Here is a thread I posted last night.
https://my350z.com/forum/tuning/199801-utec-idle-issue.html

P.S. if you guys could help with how to mount this thing in a G35 that would be great also.
An email I sent to TurboXS back in June when I had the first Utec issue. (Which was resolved by Tuning Factory to TurboXS, not by me)

My Tuner tried to adjust the maps to tune out the timing issue. They will need to be adjusted accordingly, when I get another unit.

Note that the reflash runs close to perfect.

O2's have been switched as some threads recommended and I also threw in the extenders (even though the downpipe has them pretty far out already)

The MAF over-voltage hasn't happened since Feb Knock on wood.
