which year track model is best?
I'm in the process of buying the track model, and I'm debating over the 2003,2004,2005 model. can someone please tell me the difference. And what performnces chip should I get for it?
Plus 05's have the LED's and full HID's, right? It will be more distinct than the frist 2 years. Go with 05 and above becaue the revup motor. You'll happeir if you start getting ***** deep into building. Not say 03-04's were bad, I my self have an 04.5 ET. But I did that trim for a reason, Fully building the car. So I dont want to waste the extra cash on something Im gonna gut or replace.

Welcome, don't mind the flames and foolish answers, this is the best forum for "Zs", so don't get put off.
Yes, the 2005, because of the Rev-Up. Also the HIDs were upgraded. As far as a performance chip. There are none that I'm aware of. You'll need to pull the ECU and have it reprogrammed. Techno-Square in LA, did mine. I pulled it, and sent it off to them, first describing my mods to them. If you can find an '06, Nissan upgraded the wheel to 18" front and 19" back with wider widths. IMO, it's worth thinking about.
Also, you may want to get used to using the search function.

'03's had lots of problems...trannys, tire feather/wheel aligment issues, Nav cubby door breaking...just working out all the kinks of a new car.
early '04 is similar to '03, but with some of the kinks fixed
'04.5 changed to wideband O2 sensors (not much of a difference ~ affects stuff if you install test pipes)
'05 Rev-up available on certain models, lights changed.
ECU mods:
-Altered Atmosphere and TS can both do reflahses: you either have to drive to their shop or ship your ECU to them, and they'll change your ECU to work better with your modifications
-piggyback ECUs ~ most popular is Utec...there's lots of other choices out there, but all require you to install a secondary ECU and then tune it.

last time i checked, the revup motor has more hp but less tq and FI applications don't work as well with the revup motors as they do with the 287 motors - but this is the last time i checked so correct me if im wrong

They have stronger internals from the factory and stock vs. stock they pull a little ahead of the 287 in top end, but from what i hear and see, they give a lot of problems going FI

FWIW, I also like the newer '06 wheels over the earlier Track wheels. I put a set of the newer 18/19 inch Rays from an '06 on my '03 and think it really helped it out....http://350zos.com/Gallery/daequitz
