Default emanage blue controlling timing

Has anyone used their emanage blue to control timing? I haven't found anything on whether or not it will work on the VQ. None of Greddy's information has helped.

You can use the blue to reduce timming, but not advance. As far as i know it does work but i think you must use a certain resistor(or diode) to keep from frying the coilpacks. Also you can not leave the car turn on in accessory mode w/o the engine running or it will overheat the coilpacks. Wait for some one else to confirm this though because it has been awhile since i have read up on this topic

I have yet to install it on the Z. I used it on my Supercharged maxima i had before the Z and it worked very well. If you are creating your own base map from scratch i would take it to somebody and have it tuned. I paid to have mine tuned since i was boosting 11psi on a stock block with stock ignition timming

Correct. You must use a diode on each line from the EM to the coil packs to reduce the constant current that the EM induces into each coil pack. It is only a problem if you leave your key in the "on" position without the engine running. I put the diodes on, and even though I know not to leave the key on without the engine running, somebody else who may have to drive my car won't know, so it's just a bit of insurance.

No, I don't remember which diode you need to use, but you can google it.

Why can't you advance timing? I'm NA and only want to advance, is it a specific problem to nissans that it won't do it because the manual says it should.

the emanage blue itself is not capable of advancing timming

Then what's the point of the ignition harness? I thought it cut the factory wires and allowed the emanage to advance or retard the spark. Even the manual says you can advance or retard the timing. What am I missing?
