Exclamation Unichip ..verses Utec......

Hello guys, how is everyone doing?? I was wondering what system is better for a n/a Z...... I have a Unichip and only got 5hp out of it.....They told me that with the Unichip they can't even advance the timing so you would be lucky to get 7hp out of it...... I was wondering would a Utec allow you too advance the timing?? If you can please give me some information on this matter... The mods I have are.....

SFR intake manifold
Strup Headers...
Megan Test pipes..
UR pulleys.
Injens true duel Exhaust
Stillen Intake......
Unichip...

I didn't even hit 260...... What do you think could be some of the problems.....

Thanks for the help!!!!!!

Then they do not know what they are talking about, the Unichip will advance timing.

Are they a certified tuner? Did they have the software and special cables?

Yes he is a certified tuner.......he had the cables and i seen his unichip certificate.... He called the Unichip office and they told him even if he advance the timing the E.C.U. would Retard the timing back...... They told him thats why theres is only a 7hp gain out of the Unichip....I was wondering with the Utec would the timing retard back???? Would I get more then 7hp with the Utec ?. Do you think it could be the Speed Force Racing Intake Manifold?????????? Thanks

The ECU wont retard the timing unless it sees knock, the Unichip simply adds to the stock timing.

Actually since the EU works by adding/subtracting from stock timing, I can tell you right now, that it is not very successful in adding timing. The stock ECU does not like to have timing advanced from an outside source.

I don't know how the UTEC does it, but I can tell you it doesn't work very well with the EU so I can imagine it's the same with the unichip.

On the other hand, I advanced timing 2 degrees with cipher, and made quite a few hp.

hmmm very interesting!!!!! Do you think I should get another system... I know some extra hp is left on the table with the unichip... How much hp do you think is left on the table by not advancing the timing.... To have every bolt on and not at least make 260 is just sad!!!!!!!!!

No question...get the UTEC. Full control over fuel and timing, without interference from the stock ECU. Typical gains are between 10-17whp depending on the current tune on your car.

FX ecu uses similar structure to the Z/G/Murano ecu.

i wouldnt be surprised if the UTEC didnt work for the FX.. might be alittle different if its a CVT (does fx have CVT?) but still should work.
