I don't see how the 2 are related.

My car was tuned using the procharger FMU and my tuner told me a while ago that I should run with VDC off to avoid detonation.

I didn't understand it either so I thought I might ask others.

Who is your tuner? Even if there was some correlation, I would think you would want to do the opposite.

At this time, I'd rather not disclose who the tuner is, however I will talk to them about the fact that no one else has trouble with this issue on the board.

I suspect because the VDC cut's engine power by leaning out the fuel. If you're breaking the tires loose under a heavy engine load it is plausible.

Yeah I think the VDC cuts fuel.

But it should only cut fuel when you are under very low-load. (wheels spinning)

So shouldn't it be safe even if there is a detonation event...?

I assume you are using a Utec which is why you are seeing the knock reading. You usually will get knock reading on the Utec when you hit the rev limit or TCS/VDC kicks in, I think it is more noise from the abrupt cut in fuel/throttle

Besides you shouldn't be running the car hard with TCS/VDC on you know it is going to kick in.

I'm actually using the Procharger FMU

I was just told that the car would detonate if I ran it with VDC on.
