Default To tune or not to tune? that is the question.

Hey Errbody... lil help here?

Injen CAI
MotorDyne5/16
Tp Test Pipes
X02 Cat Back exhaust
DC headers-(soon to be installed, timing hinges on possible tune)

Questions

1)Would it be in my best interest to get a tune?
( keep in mind the Money: Better Response ratio)

2)I just want the most performance i can get, whats the cheapest Chip i can get to achieve this + push my rev limiter up.

3) i haven't done a baseline dyno, but how much more power could i realistically expect( i understand this answer is contingent on like 200 intangibles, but gimmie your most objective opinion)

4) "im a poor med student"-that being said, whats the most cost effective tune?

I gained 9whp 12ft/lbs PEAK with a Technosquare $600 tune-much more under the curve. They made my A/F PERFECT 13:1 across the board, I sent them a mods list and my dyno with A/F graph. My car went from running 13.6 @ 104 to 13.1 @ 107mph - look more at the MPH increase rather than ET, it brought all of my mods together. Best $600 spent NA...

With that being said Id say the worst your tune is now, the better your results after tuning. You really should dyno your car right now. Good luck.

+1. If you also doing this to raise your rev limit watch out bc to many high rev shifts will equal explosion in the future!

Not true at all. I had mine raised to 7100rpm's and never encountered an issue, I have yet to read of an NA overrevving issue.

Alberto,
is it necessary to send technosquare a dyno printout of the car together with the mods list?
The reason i ask is because the nearest dyno to me is 1000miles away and at a 2000ft elevation in altitude, i feel this would drastically change the dyno figures.
So is a simple mods list ok for technosquare to work with?

Rgds,

suhail

No it is not. They have done extensive testing with various different mods/combinations and know what to do in most cases. In my case I feel the tune couldnt have been better. Mods list is good to go, you could always buy an A/F guage that can datalog and saend them a log of your A/F's and later you can check and see if your happy with what you get back from them.

I was on the fence as well, but bit the bullet and had mine reflashed in-house at TS. It was worth it. Mail-in can be kind of a crap shoot, though, so when you get it back the first time, it's best to dyno and have them look at the chart; you may then need to send it back for a final tweak to get it perfect (won't cost anything but shipping).
