Default Finally, a good dyno session, and a tune.

I've had my Utec for a little while now, I had initially got it tunned by a friend of a friend and I really only paid for the dyno time, so it was a deal.

The car had never seen over 150 hp on a dyno, and I had given up on getting more power. I've been done modding the car for hp. the mods are the usual:

UTEC
pop charger
5/16 spacer
MREV2
Styup coated headers
UTR high flows
Nismo exhaust
JWT cluth/flywheel

Then last weekend, there was a free dyno at a Nasa HPDE at Vir, so I did some pulls and the car made 245, no surprise, but they printed out the AFR larger than the HP graph, and I saw it was running rich!

It was hitting 11.5's and getting close to 11 at red-line! I knew it was rich when I got it tunned, but the guy did alot of pulls and I didnt want to complain about my free tune.

So, I thought I would give it one more try. I contacted a local 240 guy that does some inovative NA stuff on his 240 and he told me he has tunned some Z's before.

Well the first pull put down 240 even in the 98 degree heat. 6 pulls later it made 260.9 hp and 250 tq!!! The AFR is now FLAT at 13 and he said it loved the timing changes. I was out of there in less than a hour and couldnt be happier.

The AFR is still conservative since I do track the car often and I wanted a safe, worry free tune. I'm sure it could make a little more if had cooled off properly for the final pull. Finally I get some satisfaction out of the NA money pit!

Best HP per $$$ mod yet!!!

Ignition timing, either advancing or retarding the spark to ignite the air/fuel mixture.

13 is kind of lean, no? I know 13 is risky on even built FI engines.

i bet you would have pulled 250's with a stock motor and a tune. but lets not talk about that.
