How to connect AEM Uego to computer.
Hey guys, I am trying to use MPS_UTECLogger 3.0 with my utec+AEM wideband, and I was just curious if there was any instructions for how to make the connector from AEM wideband to Serial port.

It's in the instructions that come with the AEM. I believe it is the blue wire that you need to connect to the computer. You need to get a female DB9 connector from someplace like Radioshack and connect the blue wire to either pin 2 or 3 (I can never remember). You then need to connect ground to pin 5. Plug the new serial cable in to your serial port and you are good to go!

I wish I had taken a picture of how I had mine set up on the car for a while. It was really ghetto, but it logged perfectly with the MPS and UTEC. I had to use a Serial to USB connector with a Female to Female serial connected to that. If you install it like KPierson said it should work fine.

OK the way i do it. i connect the blue wire from the AEM UEGO to pin 2 at the DB9 connector on the laptop and i use a usb to serial to connect the UTEC since i have one serial port at my laptop. the problem is when i connect both of them the usb to serial will freak out and stop working i think it needs some kind of a setting or driver. other wise the software is working fine with the laptop serial port.

I didn't have any luck using a converter with my laptop (it would blue screen when I tried to use both ports at the same time).
So, I switched my Utec to USB and kept the AEM as a serial device. Problem solved.

You can run it to ground, but I just ran it to the widebands ground. In a car, ground is ground, whether you connect it directly to the battery, chassis, or another ground wire.

hmm so i finally got around to it tonight... I took a male - female straight through de9 cable that came with my utec (i use the usb cable) and cut the male end off, but I cant seem to figure out what color wires go to pin 2 and 5.. I cut the male end up trying to see what wire leads to what pin but demolished it with no real results lol.. are all de9 the same colors corrosponding to the pins?
I found this (http://www.kryslix.com/nsfaq/Q.4.html) so... is red ground and yellow recieve data?
(I dont have a soldering iron so this is the easiest way to do it for me)
Help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry about that...It's a pic from my old UEGO instruction book...I didn't even realize I still had it--maybe it's outdated...if I recall, I downloaded it--long ago--from AEM.

i checked the online version and it seems the instructions are the same as the ones you posted... hmmm... probably db9(de9) cables havent changed so those instructions must be valid... but according to the site I found (http://www.kryslix.com/nsfaq/Q.4.html) that combination doesnt make sense.
