Default Hows my tune? Please comment on my Maps.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if you gurus could take a look at my fuel and timing maps. It is for my stockblock 8psi APS TT. Let me know if anything jumps out at you.

It is scaled to 10psi so basically each 10% is 1 psi

Also, I noticed something strange in the fuel map, where it is 10's in the 10% and 20% column from 2750 to 4750rpm.

The tuner told me he wanted it slightly leaner for better spool-up, and according to the fuel graphs it is still sub 12.5, I just wanted to know what you guys thought of it... seems like a lot of fuel to be pulling no?

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

who tuned that car??

you dont want a lean AFR to spool up turbos faster, you want it rich.

i have tuned A LOT of utecs this year and i can tell you right now your car is probably not much fun to drive.

are you on 91 octane as well??

i bet your car bucks pretty bad when you get to 0-2 psi, you need to get that car to a person who tunes a lot of utecs, there are a few reputable people all spread out over the USA with a lot of experience.

that car probably doenst make any power like that either..??

That´s a very very ugly map , like jeremy says , that 10´in the 10% and 20% columns are bad , you need to scale from 2500 rpm to 5000 rpm with a values between 72 and 86 in the 10% column , and 82 and 104 in the 20% column.I WOULDN´T RUN YOUR CAR WITH THIS MAP until you fix those values , and get a real tune with a real utec tuner........the ingition map have some bad things too....

So you still get 12's A/F on around 0-2 psi? I'm no expert but isn't it ok to have low 12's on low boost (0-2) psi and gradually rich out until you hit peak boost/TQ? But you Map doesn't look good and I'm not sure why you still get 12's on the 1020% column. Based on my Map, my Timing on the 10-20% is around 20 and gradually goes down to 13's as I hit higher boost/rpm.

I am on 92 octane. Im going to take the aps 550cc basemap, and scale them to 650cc and just input those values into where he put 10's..

The transition @ 0psi from ecu-> utec has been a bit rough sometimes lol.. ill try putting in some higher values and see what happens. I thought something was off...

Can you post some logs so we can see what is your A/F reading?

the numbers are too blurry... looks pretty wavy but the numbers are every .25 a/f so it only ranges from 13.14 max to 10.8 min..

the black line is my boost line, looks pretty weird eh? see that strange dip? Even after preloading the actuators correctly and verifying they open at the same time it still does it.

well the numbers on that graph are in Kpa for the boost, but 1-2 psi is basically at the beggining part, its below 12.5.

I just went down to my car and took the values from the aps 550cc basemap, scaled them to 650cc injectors, and input those into my fuel map in the place of the 10's.

Should be a bit smoother now.

AthenG, do you have a similar setup as me? would you mind letting me take a look at your map?

Mine is a little different since I have a Revup plus I'm only running a ST. Like Al v said, my 10% is around high 80's and it goes to low 100's as I past 5000rpm, but I only have a 440 inj. I say go to a shop that really knows how to tune Utec and VQ coz you have a lot more power to squeeze coz your timing is also way conservative at least compared to mine

ah, so i guess not really comparable Yea I have spent over 1k on the getting it tuned by 2 different tuners... the only 2 that I heard good things about in WA :P well it runs pretty well at the moment, im sure there is more power to get out of it, gotta save some more cash and drive it down to GTM, seems to be the only option to get it done right.

I just looked at the Base Map for the APS and your Map is even way conservative compared to that one. Did your tuner started from scratch? I mean all they have to do is just tweak the Base Map, it look like the felt that the Base Map is to Aggressive and pulled a lot more timing.

I say go back to them and ask why they did that and see if they can retune and work of the base map or find someone else.

The tuner basically worked off the map I had previously tuned. I pulled a few degrees of timing here and there myself, as I was experiencing knock at certain loadpoints, mostly around 3-4k @ 70-80%

you are probably sensing false knock with those timing values. you really need to take the car down to someone who can tune your car properly..

/\ True, what was your A/F when you were knocking? Did the ECU or Utec pulled some timing? if it didn't then it might be just false knock. Base Map tend to be conservative so I'm not sure why you were knocking like crazy unless it is really hot and you were running lean or to much timing (which you aren't).
