a friend told me you have to buy this for tunning ? what purpose does it serve if you have a utec piggyback?
It allows you to read your A/f ratio which is essential for tuning a car.
When not tuning your car it gives you that peace of mind that your car is still performing the way it was when you had it last tuned on the dyno, by showing your A/f ratio at WOT. Sometimes things happen(exhaust leak/crack,ect) and your car ends up runing way more lean/rich then it was when you were tuned, and its just nice to know right away when something like this happens.
Plus it gives you a nice fancy gauge to look at in your car!

No. The TXS tuner reg does though. That's why I didn't get the innovate wideband but went with the TurboXS unit. It can mate up with the UTEC and combine the A/F data into a single log file, which is very handy...
Plus, you can also run any analog or digital 5v AFR gauge from the TXS Tuner if you can't find a decent place to mount the TXS Tuner (like me). I'm using the TXS Tuner Reg / AEM AFR Gauge combo. I log with the Tuner and use the AFR gauge for quick checks & piece of mind.

Innovate does sell a kit with the LC-1 controller (for the oxygen sensor), an SSI-4 box to combine signals, a Manifold Air Pressure sensor and two xD-16 gauges. It is called the 'Tuner Kit' and is a bit pricey. However, it will give you lots of options for reading AFR, Boost, integrating the information for data-logging, additional inputs, etc. We have this in a Vortech-supercharged Z using a UTEC so we can keep track of boost and AFR with the two gauges in the center console and UTEC takes care of everything else. With two USB inputs on a laptop and using MPS_logger you can get all the tuning info you need.
