UTEC N/A, throws CEL, VDC and slip lights, JDM Z
Hi guys,
I've just sold my UTEC (which I had purchased from a US owner, and obviously worked fine with a US ecu) which had worked flawlessly with my Euro ECU, to a guy with a JDM Z. He's now saying that he's installed it, grounded it etc but he's got a CEL light, VDC light and slip lights all on at the same time.
Car is lightly modded with exhaust and intake, the lights are on even with Map 0.
I suggested an ECU reset (just leave the battery disconnected overnight) but I can't think of why he would get the lights... I am sure I didn't! Only difference I can think of is that it's JDM Zed... although I wouldn't see a problem in using a UTEC?
Any other suggestions?
Cheers

You cannot fix that problem. I had the same issue before I sold mine. It will throw a CEL code 0350, Ignition Signal problem.
The car however, was driving fine and it did not bother me as much because I don't really like VDC anyway..
But thats one of the reasons why I sold my UTEC and went Osiris.

What do you mean with not liking VDC? surely the code doesn't also deactivate it? did you have to live with all lights on all the time on the dash?
Thanks for your help btw... I feel a bit guilty having sold it to him but surely it's not my fault? was working 100% with no lights on mine!
Yes, I have a JDM.
Yes I mean that I do not like VDC cutting in much and yes the code also deactivates the VDC and yes I had to live with all the lights on all the time. It was bothering me when I first had it but I got to live with it somehow.
If you reset the ECU, it will not throw the code at the first start up but it will from the next start.
It surely is not your problem, the guy who bought it should have done enough research before purchase.
