Default Utech on a stock car.

Hey Guys,

Kind of a lurker, mainly because I don't have my Z yet. Hoping that it'll happen this summer.

Anyway, has anyone installled the Utech or another tuning system on a stock Z and optimized the AF? Just wanted to see how safely Nissan tuned it from stock. I searched around a bit, but it's kind of a broad search topic. Feel free to point me to a thead.

Thanks!

i think u mean a utec...unless u upgrade anything i wouldnt buy one...u might gain a bit of hp from stock but nothing worthwhile unless u add intake/exhaust/f1....

Yeah, utec, sorry.

I would definitely be uprading other things, just wanted to see what I could get out of the car from stock before I started thowing money at it. I just came out of a bad relationship... with an e46. Put way too much money in it for very little gain. I'm hoping to get more bang for my buck out of my Z.

if you want cheap gains, you would be better off buying an evo/sti or 335 than the z.

Didn't say I wanted cheap gains. And I'm a Nissan guy at heart. My brother and I have both owned Z32TTs and I still work on a few Zs and S13s for my friends.

If I wanted cheap gains my first step sure wouldn't be to add in a Utec. I've been a member here since 2003 and I do a lot of reading. I have just never read of anyone seeing just how safely Nissan tuned this engine from the factory.

Oh, and I'll never buy another BMW to race/mod... And I've had my fill of AWD DSMs, so I'll be fine without a 335 or EVO. STIs aren't my sort of car.

Oh, and I hope I'm not coming off as defensive. I'm just looking to get back into a car that I can work on, handles well, and has great power delivery. I'm not looking for a 1000hp monster, but I'm looking for an engine that I can pop open and rebuild if I have to. Can't do that with a BMW unless you have thousands of dollars in German tools.

I was also looking at a UTEC , the UI has turned me away from it though.

Check out the Haltech Platinum. It has the best user interface out there, and has proven gains on NA setups (such as https://my350z.com/forum/tuning/324190-new-haltech-and-pf-dyno-tune.html)
