Default Base Flash 08 350Z NISMO

Forgive but I'm coming from the EVO world...and in that world, a base flash yeilds nearly 20 whp. I've built a S/C SI Civic, a 325 whp 350z, and a 400 whp Evo (Meth injected)...is there such a tune for the 350? I'm thinking of a dyno/tuning run at AAM in MD...but guessing a N/A 350Z is not going to yield that much HP. I can start w/NA mods but guessing I won't see credible gains unless I go F/I. I like to reach 480-500 whp...your suggestions are welcome...but I'm guessing F/I is the way to go...there is not a lot there for the 07-08 350Zs...what are your recommendations.

Flame on if you feel you have too...I'm just looking for your opinions--as a prior Z owner, I know there are lot of experienced tuners and builders...so I apologize up front for may seem like a New-Be request.

I'm in DE...and know about Altered Atmosphere Motorsports in MD...good shop? They seem very credible and am already scheduling a dyno/tuning run w/them.

At any rate...great to back among the Zs

For large numbers your best bet right now is to buy the greddy twins. You can get close to 300whp n/a. But fi is needed for large numbers. HFC 's and a good daul exhaust is a great starting point with the HR. Look to reflash thread to see the release date of the tuning software.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm continuing to research this forum...but so far, your recommendations are consistent w/what’s out there--and that’s how I started w/my first Z. I never tuned it, though...Z tuning will be a new experience for me--looking forward to it.

Be ready to open up your wallet. Z is an expensive platform to tune on. I used to be in the Subaru community which is similar to the Evo crowd, and trust me, it's very different. The major difference is the fact that Z is an NA car from factory. It takes lots of cash to get major HP out of it...as is the case with most NA cars. On an STI or Evo, you can get 50whp with a basic open source tune and turbo-back exhaust...all for under $1K. $1K will not take you far on the Z. There's a few NA mods that you can do that will yield some minor power gains: spacer, test pipes and a custom tune. You can do it for $1K if you buy used and do your own tuning but that won't even scratch the surface of what your goals are. Basically, with your HP aspirations, you have to go with forced induction. I see $10K thrown around as a good estimate for an average FI build.

Agree...my first Z remained N/A w/about $3500 in bolt-ons--it was ok for power and satisfied my goals at the time. I hit 400whp in the EVO for less than that...heck, my S/C Civic Si was nearly as inexpensive to build.

Until some turbos start to come out, this time around I'm just going to do a few things just to satisfy my aesthetics tastes in/outside the car--e.g. cabin needs a decent receiver and I'd prefer a deeper/more aggressive exhaust tone...I believe for $1k, some good used parts will suffice for now.

I expect to go F/I...but w/all the modding I've done, patience and research is about the best thing I've learned. In fact, it's been almost 2 years since I've been back on this forum...so I'm no where near getting caught up on all the Z-work that's been done!
