Default S-AFC II installed and tuned

Ok... I finally got my S-AFC II installed, will take some pics later.
From what I've been told the install wasn't all that difficult and the tuning was fairly simple except the fact that it tunes every 200 rpms.

I recieved a moderate 6rwhp and 8 lbs of torque out of the deal. With more testing and tuning probably pull a few more out but to be on the safe side stopped there. The torque feels really good with the tuning. Torque starts at about 200lbs at 1.75 rpms. HP has a good steady climb all the way to the top.

As for the ECU learning curve. Well I'm going to go back in a month and dyno again and see if anything changes and probably go play with more of the tuning.

Overall the car feels nice. Getting very smooth. The unit is very nice. Up to four readings at a time. (AF, Rev, Throttle, Knk and some other stuff that I don't remember right now)

More will follow, like the dyno charts

Where did you mount it? I was thinking about getting it but couldn't find a place to mount it where it wouldn't stand out too much.

Pretty cool alternative to the TS ECU at about half the price. Making just about the same hp too. Keep us posted.

It was done at XS Engineering. Took a day
Haven't really mounted it yet. I was thinking of putting it in the cubby whole for now.
And I don't know how much the TS ECU is but the MSRP on the S-AFC II is like $450. ( I didn't pay that much ) and install and dynotune cost another 300. But you can probably get the dyno tune done at a lower cost. But I got it tuned by XS. I wanted to get it right the first time.
Will try and take some pics this weekend.

Yeah they are in the low $300s. Only I am doing the install myself. I've done 4 others and it's simple. Of course, I would have to pay for dynoing.

Currently I have the 2nd gen SAFC from my 99 Eclipse GS-t, but I'm not sure if I should use that one or get the new one. No rush.

I haven't bothered looking around and see how much the S-AFC II is being sold for. But I know the MSRP is $469 I think. I'm sure there are places that have them for less.

99Allturbo - I would say go get the new S-AFCII much more stuff to it.. Unlike the old gen where you tune every 500 rpms the new one tunes to every 200 rpms and you can have up too four displays at a time, can't remember how many you can have on the old gen.

The shop told me that the tuning took about a hour and a half.

Cool......the best thing about this unit is that it can change as your mods change........that, and being able to store two different settings........do you have the blue display, or the white display?

I have a blue display. I like... looks very clean. I'll see about getting around about the manual Eliktrik. Sorry for taking so long... been really busy. This has been the first week I've been home and that's the reason why I'm did my new exhaust and S-AFCII this week.

And I'm back on the road next week.... =(

Right on.....i suspect my J-spec unit is the same as the US-spec unit.....i'm not gonna install until after my supercharger is done......the SAFC-II should help me add fuel from the ECM and rely less on the supercharger's Fuel Management Unit......BTW, i got the white display one........did you have them program 2 different maps?....or just one for now?........i really like that feature.......especially for mods that only used at the track like nitrous or exhaust cut-outs

It was just set up for one map. I don't really need two maps right now because I'm NA. Still trying to figure out all the menu's. Man that thing is crazy.

I'll try and get into the settings area and post the settings when I get a chance. I don't really like messing with it cause I don't know anything about tuning so I don't want to mess it up.
I'm not going to post the air/fuel settings though cause it won't really do much good to people unless they are running the exact same setup as I am and even then it might not work right. Each car runs differently.

I do suggest though that if you do go with the AFC get it dyno tuned. It's realy the only way that you will know how affective your tuning will be.

This is the best news I've heard all week. This will really allow me to fine tune the Procharger kit.

one thing i definitely like about the AFC is that you dont haveto continually get it retuned.

btw i think the thing he meant that was twice the price of the technosquare ecu was the powerFC

CMJ - I have no idea what you are looking at on ebay. There are a lot of the old one on ebay since it's outdated now and selling pretty cheap. The unit says S-AFC II.

Bob - The AFC has some retuning. Especially when you do certain mods. Intake, exhaust.... ect. That's why I waited till I got my exhaust in before I installed it.
