Well based on other cams we've installed, you can run them the way they sit, or you can adjust the cam timing on the dyno and see where you can place your gains. Usually even a little bit of adjustment can bring your tq and hp curves and peaks to suit your build. Just thank god that you don't have to adjust the cams with those adjustable gears... talk about a time consuming PITA.
The stock cams are set fairly well from the factory, but the aftermarket cams can usually use a little adjusting to get the max gains or smoothness. Plus if you have the procharger, that will change the cam settings vs an NA or Turbo car.

As long as Brian Crower states that there aren't clearance problems then you should be able to run them. You may have problems with low vacuum, or lopey idle, it may even run a little rich, but it should run.
You'd want a tune of some sort if you wanted them to run properly and get the real gains from them.

Technically if a flash is close enough... it should work, but considering the expense of cams and the labor to do them on these cars, the money spent on an actual tune is worth it.
Our product can support cam tuning, but we don't currently have a Pro Tuner near you. You might be interested in the End User Tuning product that we'll have available shortly though.

Just kidding. You can degree the VQ cams, with SCIENCE. Or atleast with tuning, it's the same thing, you just don't have to do it manually.

I have, thouugh I'm no VQ expert, I just know how things work in basic concepts. You'd need gears of some sort to adjust them, which as I found out, are not made for the Z. So what happens when people want to run with the VVT disabled?

The cam gears you're thinking of are adjusted manually at the discretion of the user.
VVT is exactly that, variable. The ECU takes control, or in the case of UpRev, YOU take control.
The 'limitation' lies with what the max advance is.
OEM sprockets are 40º, aftermarket (Nismo) are 55º. So, technically, there are gears out there. IMO, Nismo VTC's shouldn't be even looked at unless you've selected a set of cams to go with them as this thread suggests.
For obvious reasons, you would want cam timing advanced midrange, and retarded as the RPM rises. Take a look at some cam timing logs on here or on maxima.org.
Not sure why anyone would want to 'run' without VVT, unless you had a less advanced ECU. In that case, then drill your cams with respect to the powerband desired.

We'd be interested in helping with a VK swap, you could wire up a Titan ECU...
